@JMUD - haha I will try to be honest : ) I would love to switch, but with only 2 and half weeks or so to go, I don't want to risk it !

I'm still a huge fan of POFQ. More intimate then POR..but only a boat ride or quick walk away from their amenities....the evening fog...the soft whirl of the boats...the ripples on the river...the clip clop of the horse and carriages.....the quaint architecture......the......ooops...sorry I got lost in the memories biggrin

It's nice to read all this praise for Port Orleans Riverside! Smile My boyfriend and I are headed to WDW in September (his first visit ever) and that's where we're staying. Definitely looking forward to taking a boat ride to Downtown Disney!

First trip to WDW in 28 days and we are staying at the Animal Kingdom. Anyone ever stay there? I'm so excited to go but so afraid of being disappointed because no one has mentioned them yet. OMGosh, I'm NEVER this neurotic!

I think it hasn't been mentioned on this thread because AK Lodge is not a moderate, it's a deluxe. The above mentioned resorts are moderate.
AKL is awesome! I think you will love it, it is beautiful. We haven't stayed there for years but we visit often to just wander around and see the animals. Boma is my favorite restaurant, and we go to Mara's (the counter service) for zebra domes whenever we are there. We love the atmosphere. There is lots of love for AKL on this blog and I'm sure others will comment with more details. I'm sure you will LOVE it!

I agree with Julie - you'll love AKL but it's not a moderate it's a deluxe.

Another shout out for AKL! Not only are there animals out there, but cultural reps from African countries to tell us stuff, put on programs, perform, etc. it is such an immersive experience, and the vibe and yummy smells from the restaurants is awesome.

I found it to be friendly and welcoming too. mickey

We have stayed twice at CBR and twice at PO Riverside. My husband and I definitely prefer Riverside due to the lush plantings in the Alligator Bayou and love the food court there. We found there are more fresh options at the Riverside food court and Boatrights is excellent for dinner. I also hear FQ is nice as it is half the size. We also found that Riverside is a closer bus ride to Epcot and MK, our favourite parks. And the boat ride to Downtown Disney is a nice change from the bus. This September we decided to splurge and are staying at the Boardwalk, but I'm sure we'll be back at Riverside. clapping

Thanks Julie, DisneyDoc, and Kristen. This is our first trip and we were are extremely blessed that my bother/sister-in-law have made and handled the reservations for us....we're along for the ride and I didn't realize about the whole moderate and deluxe categories. Thank you so much for the web link!

Hello Crystal and welcome. You should love AKL. It will also spoil you probably from ever wanting to stay at a Value or Moderate ever again. Enjoy!
