Why do you love POP Century?

Of all the "Value Resorts", POP Century seems to get the most love. What makes this resort so much better than the All Stars? Where is the best section to request a room? Interested in everyone's viewpoint.

I think Pop wins the value resort competition easily. It always seems a bit more "polished" than the All Stars. I think they had more stuff to be able to play with due to the wider concept than the others. We actually try to stay away from pools, which is unusual. Most people want to be near them, but we can't deal with the noise.

Not a big fan of pool noise either. Would you recommend the "80's" section? Is that nice? My husband and I are 80's kids but our children who are 9 & 6 would probably prefer the "50's" section because they are HUGE fans of "Lady and the Tramp". Is that section good too?

50's and 80's are both good for us, because you have a decent chance of being close to the parking lot, which is a big plus for us. 50's is cool, because if you can get into building 1 you can actually see the fireworks from the railing outside some of the rooms. (Both Illuminations and Wishes). DW likes 50's because she likes the giant Jukebox and Bowling Alley stuff better, but we can endorse both.

My favorite is the 50's section. The bowling pin pool is quiet. Any pool time I had was spent at the Hippy Dippy pool. They have a lot of kids activities in the afternoon. For the adults, the Petals Bar is great. I had a room in building 1 in November and saw the fireworks from Illuminations from my room.

I'm a big fan of the 50's section at Pop! A lot quieter and you can get a glimpse of Illuminations from the 4th floor!

This is on my list to try and do for my next trip since everyone I know who has stayed here raves about it.

We stayed in the 80's area and it was super quiet! I loved all the theming that went along with the resort. We were pretty close to the pool and maybe a 5 minute walk to the buses and lobby. It was a perfect spot for us!

I have a fondness for the 80's stuff too. Smile

We stayed at the 50's last time and really enjoyed it bit I am hoping we can stay at the 60s or 70s this time because I would like more action this time. Anyone stay at those and have a great experience?!

We stayed in the 70's on our trip... we had a preferred room so we could see the main building from our room. It was really quiet and a short walk to the bus stops... we loved it!

I liked Pop Century, because it seemed to be the nicest of all the value resorts (well until AOA opened)... plus the buses only stop at Pop, so you're on a straight ride to and from the parks.

I love the themes at the Pop, the 70's being my favorite. I love that big wheel! I've stayed at all of the value resort (except AoA) and enjoy them but the Pop feels like home. I've stayed in the 50's a couple of times, the 80's, and the 70's. I haven't stayed in the 60's or 90's.
I love the food court...I thoroughly enjoyed the King cupcake! The shopping area has lots of stuff and the arcade is fantastic albeit a bit small but that's only because I am an arcade junkie.
We'll be testing out the Art of Animation in Dec and while I'm looking forward to it, I don't know if it'll top my Pop.

Okay, I'm loving the fabulous tidbit of info on the 50s section and seeing the fireworks!

Is that the only building where you even have a remote chance of fireworks-viewing?

I'm traveling with my senior parents next time, and we may not be able to hang until the park closes, but being able to see the fireworks when we get "home" sure would be a treat for everybody!

I stayed in the 60's section this year in building 4 near Hour Glass Lake. I was able to see the fireworks there too, but the trees blocked a lot of them.

We're considering staying at Pop next time. Would everyone recommend this? We have only stayed at AoA and we LOVED it - my only criticism would be that the food court and store got very crowded at peak times, but this didn't bother us much as we were usually just cutting through or grabbing a quick snack. Smile x

Its a wonderful resort! It's my go to resort. It's my favorite. All the rooms are close to the lobby and buses.

That's great to hear as we can get a really good deal there in Autumn/Winter 2014. silly

I think we'll definitely give it a shot next time. x

The only two buildings that are not near a parking lot are buildings 4 and 5 (the '60s) because they are directly behind the lobby. Sometimes Pop does share a bus with Caribbean Beach but that's not very often.

Our first trip to pop we stayed n the 50's it was quiet but this last trip we stayed in the 70's near the lake this was cool because we learned that we could ride either AOA or pop since the walk off the bus was about the same. We just went with the shortest wait. We really are only in our room to sleep the rest of our time is in the parks so value is still our best option. If we ever feel like spending a fair amount of time in our room then we will consider a moderate.

The reason I love Pop more than any other is the dedicated bus line. It is SO NICE to not stop at other resorts in the morning when I'm anxious to get to the parks and late at night when I'm just ready to be back at the room. I've stayed in 70s, 80s and 90s at Pop and all were fine.

I did the same thing last year while staying a Pop. My room was close to the Generations Gap bridge so the walk wasn't much further if I took the bus to AoA.

We've stayed at several resorts, 2X All Stars, 3x Pop, 1x AoA, 1x Coronado Springs. Pop is by far our fav. We are heading back in January and will be stay at Pop again. It's just my wife and I, we usually ask not to be close to the pools (noise, but that means some one is having fun, so it ok laugh ). The dedicated bus line is great. I'm a big nostalgia fan. I grew up in the 70s-80's my wife is a 90's girl so we span several years and seeing all the 'old' stuff is fun. I brought my Father and his GF a couple trips back and the stayed in the 50's and loved it. Oh and the tye dye cheese cake is a must for every trip. clapping

I think Pop is great. It may be a value resort, but to me it does not really feel that way. The theming is great. The food court has a ton of choices and the gift shop is huge. The resort is extremely clean.
We stayed in the 90's section and it was great. It was pretty close to the main building and buses. They have dedicated buses, so that was nice.
We may be staying there again in May.

I'm very happy that you think the resort is clean! The custodial cms really do their best to make sure it's clean. That really does mean a lot.

We chose to stay at Pop because we heard that the resort doesn't share buses to the parks. Also, that it was affordable and nice. I stayed at the Sports one before, it wasn't really all that nice. But, then again, we mainly just go there to sleep. I also heard that the cheesecake at Pop is ridiculous delicous! laugh

I like Pop Century as my favorite value for several reasons. Not having to share a bus is nice. The food court I found to be much better than All-Star Sports. The decor stands out with so many pop culture decorations. I mean, I stayed in the 90s area but seeing all those giant decorations brought back so many childhood memories.

Just booked our stay at Pop in September so I'm loving the rave reviews! 50's building seems to be getting the most love, agreed?

We stayed there for the first time last May - 50's building, 4th floor, overlooking the lake. It was great - we got a view of the high fireworks from Epcot every night, it was a short walk to the food court and the buses, and the quiet pool was just off the elevator. We usually preferred POR, but would gladly stay here again. Housekeeping was super too.

Sounds perfect, thanks for tip!

I stayed in the 50's building and LOVED it. The only other place I think I'd want to be is the upper floors of the 60's building facing the lake just so I could see Epcot fireworks REALLY well, but the ground floor on the 50's building was fantastic.

I am so glad I saw this topic. I just booked POP for our March trip in order to save a few dollars. I decided to go the Value route and upgrade the dining plan. We stayed at Movies last September and it was good but the food court was not so great. I am hoping POP will be much better!! Very excited about not having to share the buses with 3 other resorts.
