Why does WDW hate Jacuzzi lovers!!!

My wife and I stayed at Port Orleans riverside last year for our Honeymoon. We totally LOVE that place! I had stayed there as a kid when it was still Dixie Landing, and they have really managed to make that place shine above all other moderate resorts (in my huble opinion). But seriously.... 2048 rooms and only ONE Jacuzzi? That seems absurd! I can't think of a more appealing way to end a long day at WDW than a relaxing Jacuzzi dip with my wife & an adult beverage or two! The hot tub at POR seats about 20 people and it was ALWAYS packed, even late at night. And this was in JUNE! It was very warm outside.

We are going back to POR this fall (Oct/Nov), but before we booked, we researched the Jacuzzi situation at the other moderate category resorts, and sadly their hot tub to room ratio is about the same.

What gives Disney haha!!!

I have been to many family friendly resorts that have adults only Jacuzzi's (and sometimes pools), which is always very nice feature for couples who don't feel like sharing a relaxing experience with loud kids or rude teens. I think these would be GREAT for WDW resorts.

I agree: I love Disney and I love hot tubs and it's too bad that there's not one for every pool (ie, the quiet pools should all have jacuzzis in my opinion!). In fact, I've heard AMAZING things about the Polynesian and the only thing holding me back from staying there is the entire lack of jacuzzi!

Jacuzzi is my friend. I'm with you guys. Frankly I think delux resorts should come with jacuzzis in the room.

Obviously, the disproportion of hot tubs/pools and hot tubs/guests is by design across WDW property, but I can't really imagine what the motivation is! These are some thoughts I had...

1. Liability: With unfenced swamps and rivers all over the place, I can't see how more Jacuzzi's would put Disney at any further significant risk for accident.

2. Brand Protection: We all know Disney is hyper sensitive about protecting their brand. We all saw how Pleasure Island was dismantled after activities there began to be deemed "un" disney. I wonder if they possibly consider having more hot tubs would contribute to an increased "party" atmosphere on property? I feel like my thinking is a stretch, but it's the only thing I can think of.

I'd LOVE to know what the real answers are. HMPF!

I agree too, I was shocked when sitting in the hot tub at 9pm in storm along bay with kids running and jumping into it. I was really not impressed, if they had a hot tub at the quiet pool we would have gone there instead.

For the price paid I agree!

The quiet pools are great... and staff was always very nice about letting us dip in there after hours. Sadly the only Hot Tub on property at Port Orleans Riverside is on "Ol' Man Island", which is a VERY kid friendly swimming pool / kids pool / waterslide etc. The environment there is less than appealing for a relaxing dip in the spa Sad. Last time we were there, the resort was hosting a few massively large groups of teens (i think a volleyball girls tourney and some young students convention.) It was awful. They dominated the hot tub every night! One night, a creepy dad was totally hitting on every bikini clad 16 year old girl that made her way to spa. UGH.

I love the Jacuzzi. The only reason I book a 1BR rather than a studio for me and my my wife is the Jacuzzi. Storm-Along Bay has two big jacuzzis and the quiet pools each have jacuzzis. Love it in the morning with my coffee and at night with a drink or three.

Once I closed Jelly Rolls and went over to the hot tub at two in the morning. I didn't have a bathing suit but nobody was around so it was like it never happened.

I always enjoy a dip in the hot tub at the end of the night. Like Kat, it's why I don't stay at the Polynesian, even though it's my favorite hotel. I think that a long time ago Disney deemed the hot tubs a "deluxe" amenity (with the Poly exception), hence, they don't have them at all at the Value Resorts and they have fewer of them at the moderates. The hot tubs are part of what separates the categories of resort. If you want a better pool experience you have to more up to the deluxe category.

Animal Kingdom Lodge has my favorite Disney hot tubs (there are two at each pool) and I've never had a problem with too many kids in them at night. During the day could be different. Late night in the Grand Floridian hot tubs it's also been relaxing and child free when I've been there as well. I had the same experience at Saratoga Springs. However I don't usually travel in the summer, I tend to travel in the spring and fall so that could make a difference.

If it's really going to be an issue for me I do what the Colonel does and book a 1 Bedroom Villa so I have one in my room. It's worth noting that those can be booked on cash, you don't have to be a DVC member.

My biggest problem with Disney's jacuzzi's are that about 20 years ago they turned down the temps and they are more "warm tubs" than "hot tubs." That really annoys me. However they had to, because Disney has always seemed unable to enforce the age limit that was on them.

Really? Because my biggest problem with jacuzzis in general is that they're usually too darn hot. I hate heat. Five minutes in one of those things and I start to feel queasy and faint. So I almost never use jacuzzis. Even when hubby and friends go, I'll pull up a chair and sit nearby. "Warm" tubs would be just the thing for me.

Everyone is going to feel it a little differently, but Disney probably has the least hot, "hot tubs" I have ever been in.

If that truly is the logic, then I don't like it! Even Motel 6 motels almost anywhere have a spa for their 100-200 rooms. We're attending POR this oct/nov. The pricing is pretty close to the best you can find anytime during the year there, and yet i'll still be paying more for 8 nights @ POR than I do for a month in rent for our large apartment beachside in CA! Build more Spa's Disney! The deluxe resorts are just to pricey for how long we like to stay!
