The 'You Only Live Once' Disney Birthday Trip!

Ok! It seems like only yesterday I was here telling you guys about my holiday in 6 months - but now it's only two months away and I've made my plans!

Would any of you guys like to take a peek and let me know what you think? Is it too much? Will I be able to do it all? Are the restaurants stupidly too far away or a bit pants? Let me know Smile

Hmmm- maybe we should do a late(ish) breakfast instead on the V&A day, mrhub? Do you know of a good birthday breakfast place? (I'm not having cereal on my special day Wink)

Fulton's Crab House does not get good reviews lately. My son ate there in October, and was not impressed. He found it "expensive for what you got and mediocre in quality".

I'm sure others here could suggest somewhere better.

OK FinnGirl Smile I think it's two dining credits - so, anyone know a good place for seafood on two credits at Disney? We've booked Flying Fish already. Is Coral Reef worth a go?

Sounds like an absolutely great plan! And I don't think it sounds like too much at all...I like that you left several days to go back and catch anything you missed. I wish we would have had time to do that our last trip. It felt like we had to rush through every park to fit everything in that we wanted to get done.

I've heard good things about Narcoosse's at the Grand Floridian, which is also 2 dining credits. I haven't eaten there but it's a seafood restaurant and the menu sounds amazing; it's definitely on my Disney Dining Bucket List!

Other than that, your trip sounds absolutely AMAZING--once in a lifetime, and definitely an incredible way to celebrate a birthday!! I can't wait for your recaps (you're going right around when I'm getting back from our trip, too, so it'll be fun to relive the magic!).

I would recommend Kona Cafe for breakfast, or the Wave (buffet or from the menu) at the Contemporary. What resort are you staying at, can you do room service, that might be nice.

Kat she already had Narcoossee's on the list, but good choice. It is an excellent place to eat.

I totally agree throw Fultons overboard and go to Narcoossee's. Also eat light the day of V&A. Have a good time.

You're right Mr. Hub! I totally missed it! Hmm...then I'm not sure. I haven't really heard good things about Coral Reef but I have heard it's better than Fulton's.

Sounds like an epic vacation. What resort are you staying in?

Let us know how the Segway situation turns out. I'm dying to know what they are up to.

Looks wonderful so glad you got V&A, we ate at Fultons last year and it was OK not wonderful. Brown Derby is fab love the whole vibe there. As far as I can tell from another site no breakfast room service. I would have put money on Mr Hub saying Kona! He should be working for them as we are going there too mainly due to Mr Hub's glowing reference and the pictures of Tonga toast!! I have eaten in Hooters the food is somewhat well um mediocre. I went with my ex who wanted to go and I agreed. It is fun though.

We will be at Port Orleans Riverside - thought it was very expensive to stay at the next tier up of resorts, since we won't be spending much time in them, I hope!

And the Segway Situation has me puzzled! I was told I'd be contacted if they are cancelled, but haven't heard a thing or got a refund for it, so I am really hoping its temporary.

Well don't bother throwing a tantrum because if it's cancelled , its cancelled and a tantrum wont change it. That will just get you flustered.

I never heard of a reserved spot on Main Street for the Parade so we cant help you with that.

Hee, I know - I'm not really a tantrum kind of girl Smile

Re: The Wishes reserved spot
When I booked my resort package it comes up with on the invoice:
2 PREFERRED FIREWORKS EPCOT ( 3- 99) @ 0 .0 0 .0 00
2 PREFERRED FIREWORKS MAGIC K ( 3- 99) @ 0 .0 0 .0 00

I think I need a really big manual to explain my holiday for me!!

Yeah I was thinking the same thing Kristen. Unfortunately since we don't book packages anymore, and we have an annual pass, we don't get any of those offers anymore. Heck we don't even get Mickey Mail anymore because of that.

I haven't made a booking, time-wise. Will I have to leave a lot of travel time to get to La Nouba?

The bus ride from AK Riverside is 15-25 mins depending on which stop you are at in River side (it has more then one bus stop)and if you have an ECV on board. You could also wait up to 20 mins for a bus at AK. If it was me I would set aside 45 mins to get back to the room, 10 mins to change out of my park clothes, 20-25 to boat from Riverside to DTD ,again the has to be the boat at the dock with that time frame, from there you can boat over to LA Nouba or walk over. The boat from one end of DTD to the other end ,La Nouba, is about 15-20 mins because of the stop in the middle for loading and unloading passengers or you can walk but that is about 10 mins for me. Then getting into the venue and getting my seats I would be there at 8:30pm.
I only stay at POFQ so we have left AK and gone to DTD for dinner. I always give myself 2 hours to get from AK to DTD. Then include an hour for dinner I would eat no later then 5:30 pm.

Dinner 5:30- 6:30
walk to the bus stop and get a bus to resort 45 min
10 mins in the room.
Walk from room to the boat launch 10 mins in worse case because it is a resort that is pretty spread out.
25 mins on the boat. Boat or bus it is about 20 mins.
walk from across DTD 10 mins
Arrive by 8:30 to get seats.
This is how I would plan it for us.
You could leave from AK go to any resort and bus over to DTD. That would still be about an hour in travel also.

Then again I would rather be there 30 mins early for anything then 5 mins late. Just a suggestion.
