Mr. The Colonel, it's very early and my sarcasm meter is not functioning yet. Is this a real thing?? If so, what does one have to do to become "elite"?

I would set your sarcasm meter to "yes" whenever reading a post from the colonel laugh

Although they are great perks for us, DME and bag to resort delivery are also perks for Disney. It allows them to harvest more money from you.

Except for the tip for the driver, how do they get more money? We are offered it free of charge.

Disney studies have shown that guests will spend more when they are not lugging bags of purchases around the parks. It takes that concern out of the equation. Imagine how many purchases you would not make if you had to carry them all day.

Disney studies have shown that guests who take DME are less likely to to rent a car or take a taxi. Those guests will be more likely to never leave Disney property. Those guests will be less likely to buy groceries or go shopping or dine off site. Or God forbid go to Uni or Sea World. DME makes it very easy and convenient to enter the bubble and never leave and all the cash you spend goes only to the mouse. And DME makes them a lot of money that way.

Disney studies have also shown that guests will spend more with a magic band than cash/card.

My own personal experience tells me the same thing. eek

I have to agree with most everyone else and say the transportation. DME, in-world transpo...all of it.

This became clear to me when I went to DL in January. Having to deal with luggage and a shuttle was just a hassle.

I like being able to get white girl wasted in Epcot and not have to worry about finding my car and driving back to the resort. But really I just like the buses anyway! They can be a bit of a pain when they're super full, but other than that I think of them as part of the fun. Even though I drive myself down to WDW, I like that I can pretty much find one parking spot at the resort and not have to move it ever again until I'm going home.

I also like extra magic hours a lot.

I love the free parking at the parks if staying onsite. We aren't fans of the Disney transportation (well, the buses) and love driving in the USA, the roads are all so straight and wide! Its awesome! Smile (especially glad of the free parking today after reading that the parking is going up by $2)

LOL, we just charged it to the room, so I doubt there will a difference for us. And if their goal is to stay in the "bubble", that's probably what we do anyway, so if they are as happy as we are...go for it! laugh

I love everything that comes with staying onsite ME, DDP, Magic bands, Disney buses, having purchases sent back to hotel, just everything.

However this happy hour thing is new - let me find my to-do list because that is getting put straight on!!!!
