Fun without a ticket at Disney World

There is a whole host of recreational and leisure activities one can take part in at Disney World without even buying theme park tickets.

Randy Newman Takes Home Fifth Grammy

It was Randy Newman's fourteenth nomination and fifth win as he took home a Grammy Sunday night for "Toy Story 3." The well-known composer and singer won in the Best Score Soundtrack Album category.

Newman also had a nomination in the Best Song Written for a Motion Picture Category with "Down in New Orleans" from "The Princess and the Frog." "The Weary Kind" from "Crazy Heart" won in that category.

Up next for Newman is the Academy Awards. A twenty-time nominee, he has a nod in the Best Song category for "We Belong Together" from "Toy Story 3."

Tortgua Tavern Open in WDW

The Magic Kingdom eatery El Pirata Y El Perico has been rechristened Tortuga Tavern and is open for business. This is news because the El Pirata Y El Perico had a reputation for being closed a majority of the time and opening generally to serve crowds at the busiest times and seasons.

Located near the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, the menu is much the same as before the name change. Patrons can expect Mexican-inspired fare such as burritos, nachos and tacos.

2011 Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Registration is now open for the 2011 Wine and Dine Half Marathon, which takes place October 1, the first Saturday of the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. The kicker? It's a night race, starting at 10 p.m.!

Disney Sued Over Hot Cheese

A lawsuit claiming negligence against Disney for serving too-hot nacho cheese has been filed by the family of a four-year-old boy.

Maria Carmen and Michael Jerome Harris, Jr., visited Walt Disney World last March with their four-year-old son. At one point during their stay, the California couple says their son was scalded by nacho cheese served at the resort. In their lawsuit, the couple alleges that Disney is negligent and reckless for not regulating the temperature of the cheese.

The family is seeking $200,000 in damages for "suffering, anguish, fright, worry, and shock."

Disneyland's "Walk of Magical Memories" Ending

A way for guests to become a part of Disneyland history is going to be discontinued shortly. The "Walk of Magical Memories" program will no longer be offered as of February 28, 2011.

The "Walk of Magical Memories" is a series of personalized stones that line the walkway between Disneyland and Disney's California Adventures. For the past eleven years, guests have had the chance to purchase and personalize a stone for this "Walk." The company has decided to bring this offering to an end, but will provide general maintenance to the stones already in place.
