Monorail To Get Marvel Makeover

Earlier in March, we reported that Disney CEO Bob Iger had revealed plans to incorporate Marvel characters into Disney parks in the future. We now know there is at least one solid plan to feature some these characters in Walt Disney World.

Disney recently announced plans to wrap one of Walt Disney World's monorail trains with an "Avengers" theme. Look for the Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye and Black Widow to be featured on the monorail train.

Marvel Characters Coming To A Park Near You?

Spiderman and Captain America alongside Mickey and Minnie at Magic Kingdom? Though it might sound a little farfetched, it looks like Disney has some plans in the works to incorporate Marvel comic characters into its theme parks.

Rumors on the subject have been around since Disney acquired Marvel in 2009, and to date, the only such Marvel characters to be found in the parks are on merchandise. According to President and CEO Bob Iger at Disney's annual shareholders meeting last Tuesday, Disney is working on some ideas to bring the characters into the parks and attractions.

Disney Nabs Four Thea Awards

The Themed Entertainment Awards announced their choices for this year's Thea Awards recipients on Tuesday, naming four that were Disney-related.

Disneyland and Walt Disney World shared an award for outstanding achievement in the "attraction refresh" category for Star Tours. The attraction reopened in May in both the California and Disney Hollywood Studios locations.

Disney World also nabbed another award with the nightly Magic Kingdom show, "The Magic, The Memories and You." Shown on Cinderella's Castle, it received outstanding achievement in the "show spectacular" category.

New Character Coming to Disney Parks

"Jake and the Never Land Pirates" is a hit show on the Disney Junior channel, and now guests will be able to see Jake himself at Disney parks.

Starting this Sunday, November 13, fans can catch Jake at two different places. First, he'll join the Junior Play 'n Dine character meal experience at Disney's Hollywood Studios' Hollywood & Vine. In addition to catching up with Special Agent Oso, Handy Manny and "Little Einsteins" characters, guests will be able to participate in singing songs from Jake's show.

Walt Disney World Testing Mickey's Voice

After all these years of silence when strolling through the park, it seems Mickey may have found his voice. There are reports coming out of the Magic Kingdom that the iconic mouse is greeting guests with words.

It looks like Disney is giving the speaking Mickey a test run over the next few weeks. While Mickey has spoken in the past at Disneyland in 2010 and the most recent D23 Expo, this will be the first trial of him vocally interacting with guests inside a WDW park.

Halloween Fun at Fort Wilderness

Mickey's Backyard BBQ, that guest favorite character dinner at Disney's Fort Wilderness, will be all decked out for Halloween this year and can be a nice option for guests who want to get into the holiday spirit.

The October 31 version of the BBQ will feature characters decked out in their Halloween costumes. Guests can join in the fun as well and can come in their own costume.

How Toontown's Closing Will Affect Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

Guests who are heading out to this year's Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom can expect a few changes thanks to the closing of Mickey's Toontown Fair.

Most of the changes appear to center around the location of certain characters. Frontierland will take on some of the costume-clad characters, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Frontierland will also be the site of Br'er Rabbit's Candy Patch, the newly moved and reimagined Treat Trail that could be found in Toontown.

Judge Sides With Disney/Pixar In 'Cars' Complaint

Were characters from the popular Disney/Pixar "Cars" and "Cars 2" movies plagiarized from a British screenwriter? Not according to a recent ruling by a federal judge.

Last spring, Jake Mandeville-Anthony claimed the talking, adventure-loving autos from the animated films were based on his original idea. The screenwriter brought his claim to light last spring and said he submitted a script in the 1990's in which similiar characters appeared. At the time he made the claim, he also sought to prevent the release of "Cars 2."

Disney History: Precursor To The Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line first set sail on July 30, 1998 with the Disney Magic. Or did it? In 1983, Premier Cruise Line was founded with the singular goal of offering 3-4 night sailings out of Port Canaveral to the Bahamas. The Port was underutilized and its proximity to Orlando area attractions made it an ideal location for Premier to boost its business by partnering with Disney to offer land & sea vacation packages.

Yes, Again! Why I Keep Going Back to Walt Disney World

Disney fans that travel frequently to the Parks generally experience one great frustration at home that unites us. No, it's not the desire to get back down to our Walt Disney World home. It's not the wallet draining price increases when we begrudgingly fork over the cash for our next trip. What it is - is the friends, co-workers, and family members who just don't understand how we can spend so much time and money traveling to the same place.
