Disney Cruise Line Announces Plans for Two New Ships

Disney Cruise Line has announced that two new ships will be joining the fleet in 2021 and 2023. The company says it has entered into a "memorandum of agreement" with the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany for the two new ships.

New D-Tech Me Experience Debuts During Star Wars Weekends

Last year's D-Tech Me introduced the Carbon Freeze Me experience, inspired by that fateful scene in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back when Han Solo is frozen in carbonite. This year guests can choose from the "cast yourself in carbonite" option or choose the new Stormtrooper experience.

New Fantasyland Expansion Details

A recent D23 event shed more light onto the ongoing Fantasyland expansion at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. The creative director of the expansion, Chris Beatty of Disney Imagineering, was on hand to divulge some details.

First off, there will be a new wall to separate Cinderella's Castle from Fantasyland. The wall, which will be situated where the current Dumbo ride is, will look "old" and "like it's always been there" according to Beatty.

Disney Animator Bill Justice Passes Away

Bill Justice, a Disney animator, passed away at a Santa Monica nursing home last Thursday. He had just turned 97. Fans might not recognize his name, but undoubtedly know some of the characters he helped bring to life by animation for Disney favorites.

He began his career with Disney in 1937 and went on to work on such classics as "Fantasia" and "Bambi." In fact, he animated Thumper, a beloved "Bambi" character, as well as fan favorites Chip and Dale. The opening Mickey Mouse March for the 1950's show "The Mickey Mouse Club" is also among his animation credits.
