This year marks the 60th anniversary of Walt Disney Imagineering and the origins of Disney Parks and Resorts, and as part of the celebration Imagineering is hosting an open house at the D23 Expo in August, offering guests an unprecedented look at the creative process that happens within Imagineering.

July Merchandise Events Announced for the Walt Disney World Resort

The Walt Disney World Resort recently announced the merchandise events for July including a release of new Precious Moments dolls, artist showcases, and a jewelry trunk show.

Unofficial Gay Day Merchandise Sold at Magic Kingdom During Annual Event

Despite its neutral stance on the annual Gay Days, Walt Disney World is selling merchandise that unofficially celebrates the event.

The items include designs incorporating rainbows, which is a symbol of the gay-pride movement. Products include red tank tops with a rainbow-colored Mickey Mouse head, a rainbow mug, a rainbow wallet, and Mickey Mouse Vinylmations in rainbow colors. These items were displayed with other rainbow items that are found year-round in the parks including pins and antenna toppers.

13 Reflections of Evil Trading Event Set for Friday, September 13

The 13: Reflections of Evil trading event is set to take place at the World Showcase in Epcot from September 13-15. The event promises several days of "chills, thrills, and all around frightful fun" for those in attendance.

2014 Disney Parks Dated Logo Revealed

A few week ago I shared a Limited Time Magic Contest being run by Disney to pick the dated logo that would be used in the 2014 promotions. The majority of our forum readers has great affection for the Mary Blair inspired design that depicted a colorful, modern, stylized castle. Disney Gets In On the Daily Deal Craze

There are a decent number of daily deal sites out here in cyberspace, and now Disney has thrown its hat into that ring by launching its own - Disney Family Deals.

Working much like other well known deal sites such as Groupon and Living Social, Disney Family Deals looks to offer Disney fans deals on such Disney-related things as merchandise and vacations. In addition, the company has partnered with Plum District to also offer up fans and families "local" deals to help save them money on events, merchandise and such in and around their own area.

Disney Scented Air Fresheners Coming in August

Ever wished you could bring the scent of a Disney park home with you? Soon, you'll be able to! Disney is planning to release four new air fresheners in August that capture the smells of some of the best-loved treats at the parks.

Guests will be able to take home air fresheners based on the following Disney food items: a turkey leg, a Mickey-shaped premium ice cream bar, a candy apple and a Mickey waffle.

The air fresheners, which have been over a year in the making, will retail for 5.95 each. Look for them this August inside Disney parks.

'Poster Art of the Disney Parks' Book Coming to Disney Parks Soon

It's a book that's been four years in the making, and now it's almost ready to make its debut in Disney Parks Stores. "Poster Art of the Disney Parks," the creation of Disney Imagineers Vanessa Hunt and Danny Handke, showcases posters utilized by Disney to convey the essence of its theme parks and attractions.

The book includes over 300 posters and concepts, including some "never before seen" prints and almost all of the original 1950's Disneyland posters. Says author and Imagineer Hunt about her book:

Marketplace Co Op to Open at Downtown Disney Marketplace in the spring of 2014

Savvy shoppers can add another location to their Downtown Disney Marketplace shopping list. The Marketplace Co Op is set to take over the current location of Team Mickey next to TrenD next spring.

The Marketplace Co Op will "serve as a laboratory to showcase new concepts and specialty products" according to Tom Sheldon, manager of retail design and development for Disney Theme Park Merchandise. He also said the new store was an "incubator to introduce new Disney retails shops and products."
