I think the hardest part is the standing around all day that bothers her. Then when she goes home and sits down, she seizes up. We haven't had the nicest weather lately either, so hopefully we'll pick up when the weather gets better.

Things could be worse. I'm very thankful we all still have our health and our jobs. Erik and I also discussed going to run Berlin next year and have decided that if the dates work out, we are going to do the Adventures by Disney Germany trip after the marathon so that's something to look forward too. And start saving for laugh

My friend and her partner did the Germany Adventures by Disney and loved every minute of it. They got to eat and drink so much. They also made some new friends.

I've known for a while we aren't going in May. I'm finally going to click the cancel button sad I doubt the park will open in May but even if it did, the border is closed for another 30 days. We are also cancelling our Berlin and Disneyland Paris trip. Our spring races have been cancelled and I have a feeling there won't be any races for the remainder of the year.

Work is slow. Easter can be a good cake weekend but it was a bust. They have extended the state of emergency until may 12 which means we will lose Mother's Day which is a huge cake weekend. Sales are maybe 50% of what they should be. My poor mom is so tired and in pain ( severe arthritis) and of course stressed. She had been planning on cutting her hours back this summer but now she has to work more. Our staff is down by about half because no one wants to work. I believe some are actually worried about the virus but most just went in the program the government came out with that gives you $2000 a month. Since none of our staff make that much as they're all part time, they are getting paid more and don't have to work waiting

I'm so over this. I just wish things could go back to normal.

I hear you! It hurts to hit that cancel button and sorry to hear about the slow sales. It's just so surreal still when you think about all that is going on.

We're still both working from home but they did just lay off 28 people at KenJ's work (not him), but he did have to take a 10% pay cut. Not bad in the grand scheme of things.

You would think they would have some qualifiers for the benefit that you can't make more than you did employed but I guess it's easier this way and I'm pretty sure it's only for a few months and it will take longer than a few months to get back to normal.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Hi all. I'm checking in. Today wasn't a good day. I should have woken up at Pop Century this morning but instead I worked from my dining room table. I also canceled my May trip tonight.

Canceling is always so hard. I try never to think about it that way and just say I'm "postponing." Either way thought it's not fun at all. It's going to be a long summer.

On the bright side, hopefully we will see you in September! mickey

While it is not easy to keep a business running through an offer like that, I can't say that I blame them. My daughter Tori is making more on unemployment right now than she would be working with our government's help program. Regardless, she is a workaholic and can't wait to go back. She works at a museum though, so she'll probably be amongst the last of the businesses to reopen in our area. She considered picking up some work at a grocery store, but she's high risk and doesn't want to chance it.

Ditto! I don't really expect things to ever be the same again, but if we could settle in to a new normal that would be amazing.

Things are starting to look up here. Spring weather is finally arriving so business is starting to pick up. Of course it's still not as busy as normal but we're happy with what we've got. We had one new case of covid today, the first in about two weeks. We have 17 total with 16 resolved. Apparently we have the lowest case count per capita in the province ( Ontario). Hopefully we stay that way crossfingers

We sadly made the decision last week to cancel our January trip. That means no Disney until May 2021 waiting to help ease the pain, we did some retail therapy lol. I bought a new Garmin watch, running shoes and a loungrfly mini backpack ( I preordered the Disney princess ice cream one). Erik......bought a car. Brings the total up to 9 laugh Most are old Volvos. I'm sure our neighbours just love us lol.

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm hoping with things starting to reopen, there's no big relapse.

Those stats are really encouraging! I'm really happy that you guys are getting more business.

Today I went out to Wawa to get lunch and to meet a guy. We have been talking for over a week now. I picked up some food today from a church that was handing out food donations, so I ended up giving him some extras that I probably wouldn't go through. It seems really promising. He also has a Disney AP, which is really important. rolling

We were supposed to be in Disney this past weekend, which made for a very cranky Kristen. Anyhow, things turned around when I realized that Southwest was having a pretty nice sale over the dates I have September reservation. That means I bought my plane tickets! It's always a little more real on plane ticket day.

Oh yeah... I may have extended the trip by a couple of days as well. laugh

Work has been going well. I've been really busy so it makes the days go by fast. Yesterday, I got some sad news (although I was expecting it). Our family reunion in August has been canceled. We've been having the reunion for 50 years and this will only be the second time we've canceled. The first was due to a death in the family.

I have been trying to support the local theater in my town. Before, things got bad, I saw Murder on the Orient Express. I bought tickets for two more shows this year (the productions are from two different theater companies). The first show was The Producers in April. The show was postponed until September (I expect it to be completely canceled). The second show is Beauty and The Beast in November. The theater company putting on Beauty and The Beast canceled all shows for the rest of the year.

Oh no! I'm really sorry that your family reunion was cancelled. That is really sad for theatre productions! My favorite local theatre company also had to postpone and cancel productions but for the month of May they are doing a social distance cabaret. Each day, the general public can choose between two songs and the performer performs the winning song. So that has been really fun.
I am really happy that work has been going well for you though!

Just another week under a stay at home order at our house. I entertained myself with clothes shopping (online) for my September Disney trip. I also got a new phone with a better camera so that I don't have to carry around my DSLR if I don't want to.

With the announcement that Disney Springs is reopening I was excited for Katie. However, even though Disney is taking reservations at Terralina, the employees there have not been told to come back to work. She reached out to the restaurant groups and they said there are currently no opening date. We're baffled by what that means, but there you have it. She will be moving to Space 220 when it opens (they have their fingers crossed for mid-July) but of course Disney will have to have the Parks opened up by then for that to happen.

That's so exciting for Katie! I didn't realize they were that close to opening that restaurant! That's good that you got a better phone!

I have some news, I am now a Scentsy consultant. I'm very excited to see where this leads me. I have set the bar low because I have tried selling make up before and it didn't go very well for me.

Yep, before corona hit she had been told that they were supposed to start training towards the end of March. Once everything is opened back up it should be fairly quick.

We should be in Disney this week sad
So to ease our pain, we have been having meals themed to the countries at Epcot. As much as it sucks not being there, I am enjoying this. Here is what our menu has been and will be the rest of he week.
Friday. Mexico. We ordered from a local Mexican restaurant. Burrito, tacos and tostadas
Saturday. Italy. Pizza
Sunday. Canada. Poutine and a deep fried mars bar
Monday. France. Croissants and crepes.
Norway. Some Scandinavian dessert that was apples, whip cream and graham crumbs
Tuesday. Morocco. Ordered from a local Lebanese restaurant, donair, chicken shawarma
Wednesday. American. Chicken wings, beans and corn bread
Japan. Mochi ice cream
Thursday China. Chinese food
Friday. Germany. German sausage soup, pretzels and black Forrest cake
Saturday. UK. Fish and chips.

A lot more take out food than we are used to lol but it's cheaper than the dining plan we would've bought and we are supporting local businesses. Waist lines will probably grow just as much though laugh

That is AMAZING! What a clever idea. Plus, less than the DDP - horrah!

Facebook memories is driving me insane right now because apparently I travel to Disney Parks a lot in May.

This past week I soothed my Disney-less angst by figuring out my travel capsule wardrobe for September and purchasing some new clothes for the trip. It needed to be done, might as well do it now. It's all very red white and blue.

Hello From PA all!!!!!! Well we are still in the stay at home order. Our County in PA is still all red! Scrappy and I are good though, both still going to work and living through the Groundhog Day movie gone wrong!!!!! Or did it? We don't really know how long or how many times Bill Murray lived through that groundhog day do we?

Well I haven't learned how to play the piano yet or how to carve Ice Sculptures!

Our July trip is still on the books but we will see if that actually goes off as expected. Our kids really don't want to go now in July, don't want to take the risk. Youngest son and his youngest daughter are both T1 Diabetics. I also don't think they like the thought of wearing masks in the July heat. Now, I would probably still go, but we will have to see what happens with the reopening. We are both fairly high risk.

The sucky part is if Disney does not extend the closure and our trip can go on and our kids don't go, we will probably lose the points for the 2 rooms we booked for them because they are 2019 use year points that would have had to of been banked by March 30 or used by August 30.

Hope everyone out there is holding up okay and doing well. just keep thinking Happy Disney thoughts! biggrin silly

That sucks about your points - have you considered converting them to RCI points? I read about people doing that as it gives them an extra year apparently. I haven't looked into it, but it's worth a try.

Glad everyone is doing OK. G's company have told him it will be at least Sept before he goes back (he is happy working from home) and he is even managing to do his mentoring virtually.

I am still working mostly from home going into the hospital once/twice a week to print etc. Last week some dirty so and so doctor used our office (when we weren't there) and left us a present of dirty scrubs on the floor! We are not impressed!

I have started beading (again) and have invested in some polymer clay to make my own beads. I knew I would find a use for my pasta maker. I found the beads you can buy are not big enough hence let's make my own. Should be interesting as I was useless as a child with clay.

We are not sure about our holiday. At the moment the flight restrictions are still in place and Virgin are still having financial issues and may go under and do I want to spend 9 hours in a plane? Apparently Disney are cancelling all dining reservations in place, all dining plans and no FP. At the moment our reservations are still in place but I have found as an AP holder their communication is bad, we rarely get emails. Who knows what the next few months will bring for any of us.

Grateful for having a job, no massive bills, a roof over my head, G and my friends here. Stay safe, be sensible, be kind and have fun x

We were told we are not required to go back to the office until January. They are putting a plan together for office associates who want to go back sooner. I'm torn. I don't want to work from home the rest of the year. I also don't want to dive back in working 100% in the office. I'm going to split my time. Our operations team can't work from home so I'm sure the back to the office plan will include measures to keep them safe as they are our lifeline.

My next trip is the week of Labor Day. Florida currently has an executive order in place for people traveling from CT to self quarantine for 14 days or the length of stay whichever is shorter. I still plan on going. The order has me questioning if I will be able to. The thought occurred to me the other night. If the order is still in place, there's no reason I can't work from there for 2 weeks before my trip. I believe the order is currently in place until 07/07. If it gets extended again, I have the work from Florida option to consider.

I love love love your creative solution to this dilemma!
