Dinner was at Parrot Cay on Frozen night. I like this restaurant, so colorful.
The frozen deck party.
The three pools on deck 9 - the little kids' pool (Mickey's pool), the family pool (Goofy's pool), and the Quiet Cove pool for adults only.
OMG OMG OMG THIS IS THE BEST VACATION EVER!!!!!!!We love it so much we've booked the October 2016 Big Meet Up cruise.
The ship is pulling in to Hilo, so I now have phone service again. Will post a few things on the fly.
And hubby isn't at all bothered by the expanse of the ocean, and my scopolamine patches tamed the motion sickness. Yay for cruising!

Glad to hear you had a great time cruising! Looking forward to reading more about it.
Today on the big island we visited a Mauna Loa macadamia nut factory and gift shop, although the factory was closed (Sunday) so all we did was sample nuts, buy nuts, and eat macadamia nut ice cream.
After that we visited a volcano. I say visited because we couldn't see anything because of the weather. The visitor's center was interesting, though. Everyone on the bus is rather bummed that we couldn't see the volcano, but that's the weather for you.
Photo below is the view of the volcano from the visitors' center.
Never been on a cruise, so thank you so much for the report. Looks fantastic.
After visiting the invisible volcano, we got to walk through a lava tube. That was cool! It almost made up for not being able to see the crater. We also walked throuhg a tropical forest to get to/from the lava tube. Birds sang all around us, but we never got a glimpse of them.
We got leis. Women's were flowers, men's were fake black rock.
The shirt I'm wearing today also served as my "Pirate-ish" outfit, just a striped shirt and the bandana. Hubby only wore the bandana. Several other folks went the striped shirt route to simulate a pirate's outfit. Gonna have to wait to post my photo; hubby took it upside down.
This was our best towel animal so far.
Triton's and the entrance to the Route 66 area, where the bars are.
Macadamia nut ice cream.... YUM! The lava tube looks so awesome. Looks like you are having a blast. Can't wait to see more.
"I do not like the cone of shame."
"I want adventure in the great wide somewhere. I want it more than I can tell."
"It seems to me that we have a lot of story yet to tell."
After returning to the ship, we had a quick-service lunch because the buffet line was a mile long, then walked the upper deck to see Hawai'i. The Pacific Princess is docked nearby; I'm pretty sure this is the Princess ship we saw in Vancouver. The name Pacific Princess sticks in my mind since it was the name of the ship in the Love Boat (although this is a new Pacific Princess; the old one was retired a while back).
Your pics look awesome!! So glad that your trip is going well so far--here's hoping for better weather ahead. Was that the volcano excursion that you had so been looking forward to?
Be good at something. It makes you valuable. Have something to bring to the table because that will make you more welcome. --Randy Pausch

Yes, unfortunately, that was our one and only volcano excursion. C'est la vie. But it's not a complete disappointment since we did get to stand on the volcano and walk through a lava tube.
The crew is holding a safety drill right now. Ship's alarms and horns blowing and crew members running around in life jackets pretending we need to abandon ship. But aside from hearing the loud noises, we passengers aren't involved at all.
Now we're in Kaua'i, which is much prettier than the big island. This looks and feels like Hawai'i where Hilo just looked like some town anywhere. Of course, it might have seemed more picturesque if the clouds hadn't obscured everything interesting.
I'm so excited that you both are having a blast. I'm really glad to hear that you and Dan will be on the cruise next October. We will make sure we all get linked so that we can eat together. I can't wait to catch up on your report.
hooray!!
Member of the 6 castle club and working to pay for my next Disney vacations: 1/5-10/18, September 2018 for my 50th and 2018 the year of Disney cruising.
Today's excursion is to a plantation with a train ride through the fields.
I found a KITTY at the train station gift shop. She was really friendly and let me pet her lots.
This all looks and sounds fabulous!! So glad the weather got better
LOL, the weather got worse again, but it didn't affect our excursion.
Love that you can find kitties where ever you go!

Yes. I have "cat-dar."
Characters in the atrium. I met Remy, but the photos are all sideways so I won't post till I get home. (Boo hiss home!)
Hawai'ian entertainment by the Tihati Performers in the Promenade Lounge last night. They've been on the ship for the whole trip, but this is the first time we saw them perform.
Arriving in Maui.
