I kinda love the Mexican River Ride! It's so relaxing.

Me too! And my kids love it, so it's usually a must do. I kinda preferred the old one, though. It was dated, but I loved the little movie in the floor bit, where the people swim up to the bar in the grotto. I always thought that was so cool!

I enjoyed the ride too. My friends didn't know it was even there until I suggested going on it. I have definately expanded their Disney experience over the last couple of years.

I guess I am going to have to try the MMR ride on this trip. Isn't there like a 15 minute presentation afterwards? Or a boring movie....

Not that I remember unless we decided to skip it.

That's the Maelstrom in Norway that has the presentation. Very boring.

Mexico is a slow dark ride past the volcano and the people eating dinner.

We do it every trip, because my son enjoys seeing the art at the front of the pavilion, as well as the glass blower shop.

And Maelstrom is what I wanted to ride.. is there anyway to skip the presentation?

I love Maelstrom. I ride it whenever I can and I'm not sure I've ever seen the full presentation. You can just walk through the theater to skip it. The real problem is when it's running when you get off the ride and you have to wait outside the theater for it to end. Although honestly I like looking around the "village" that you come to at the end.

Anyway...I highly recommend Maelstrom!

I've only had the chance to ride it once about a year after it first opened. It's been closed almost every other time I have been to Epcot.

They close the doors still? Every time we have gone... the lights in the theater have been on, doors always open, and movie running. But this is in November... I remember when we would see the doors open and literally run to make it incase it closed! lol

Okay.. so I did the MRR last night... and now I can say I have done it and I don't ever have to do it again. It was boring. I would have probably slit my wrists if I had to ride it without the Donald stuff.

It's not a thrill ride to be sure, but boy, is that short line and cool cool A/C welcome on a hot day!

Re: the Norway film...I, um, don't hate it. But then, I have ALWAYS had a huge desire to visit Norway for seemingly no good reason (I have no family connection whatsoever. But I am fascinated by the pictures I've seen.) So more Norway isn't a bad thing to me Smile However, the kiddoes don't feel the same way, so we often skip it.

This may be a dumb question...but why did they get rid of the skyway anyway? it seems really awesome!

It seems that as the cars were travelling ABOVE everyone, certain immature individuals were trying to hit the people walking below with anything and everything that was expendible that they had with them.

Most amusement parks seemed to take down their sky rides at the same time across the country. It seems very few amusement parks have bucket rides left. I remember at one park a worker was killed when someone started up the bucket ride while he was working on one of the support structures. Many stories of having to shut them down in windy situations for safety reasons made them unprofitable to keep. But they all seemed to come down at the same time. In the past 10 years or so, the only place I have ridden a bucket ride is at the San Diego Zoo.

I never realized Disney had one of those. But according to this it wasn't removed till 1999 so when I went there as a kid it would of been there. We still have one of these at our State Fair every year in the summer.

"The Disneyland Skyway was removed on November 9, 1994 due to stress cracks in the Matterhorn roller battery supports. At Disneyland, the Fantasyland Skyway station remains but is off limits to guests and completely empty (no machinery), and the Tomorrowland Skyway station has been demolished. The holes in the Matterhorn were filled in and the Skyway supports were dismantled within weeks.
In 1998, Tokyo Disneyland closed their Skyway. The Fantasyland station was removed to make room for Pooh's Hunny Hunt, while the Tomorrowland station was remodeled into a candy store.
At the Magic Kingdom, the Skyway was removed in 1999. The Tomorrowland station was demolished in the summer of 2009, while the Fantasyland station is now used for stroller parking, but will soon be demolished to make way for the expanded restrooms for Peter Pan's Flight."
