I have no basis for comparison, as I've only eaten at LTT, BUT I will say that I had been craving a really good cheeseburger for 3 days at WDW. I had something at Roaring Forks that they laughingly call a cheeseburger that didn't even remotely resemble meat of any kind. Or even food of any kind. I had planned on getting a cheeseburger at Planet Hollywood, but the bartender diverted me to something else.

At LTT, on my last day at WDW, I had the Angus cheeseburger. OMG. It was wonderful. I mean, really, really wonderful. It totally satisfied my craving. And I was able to get a walk-in reservation at lunchtime, so that was cool. You're right, ZZ, in that the food offerings are pretty pedestrian, but if you're craving a good cheeseburger, you'll get a far better one here than at any of the fast food places.

Regarding the poll, I have eaten at all of them, so I guess I'd be a good candidate to vote. I went with LTT. Actually, in a sense, it's improved now that it's no longer a character meal. Don't get me wrong, I love a character meal as much as the next Disney nerd, but for the first time I was able to really enjoy LTT for what it was, without the distraction of characters. Underneath it all, it's a decent sit down restaurant.

But couldn't one have such an experience even before they removed the character dining by having lunch there? The character dining only occurs for dinner. I thought that was a good compromise.

I have no reason now to go to LTT for meals anymore. I can get turkey and ham dinner anywhere, even at home. There's nothing unique about the food being served. It was the character interaction, and lots of it, that made it special. It is no longer that anymore.

Point well taken Zz. Before they removed the character dinner, you still did have the option of eating there for lunch without the characters, so in a sense, it offered more options and was more versatile, so to speak.

I maintain though, that even without the characters, the place is still appealing, be it for location, themeing, food, or whatever else. I like it enough that even without a character meal, it's still the best sit down at MK. Part of what I base this on, I suppose, is that it's one of the few sit downs at MK, that I'd go back to. While CRT and CP are great experiences, they aren't ones that I'd need to repeat for a long time.

I think you made the right call. That is probably my favorite burger in WDW. In fact I thought we should discuss it!

Did you go to Fultons? Don't they have a good cheeseburger? Or did I dream of it?

I must admit, I never had cravings for "ordinary" food when I'm at WDW. I mean, I suppose if I were "stuck" there for, say, 3 months, I might start craving for regular food. But I'd love to have that problem. I'm never there long enough for such cravings to kick in.

I eat WAY too much at WDW, so I start craving smaller portion sizes sometimes! laugh (But that's just against the spirit of the whole thing, no?)

I've been to Fultons, but didn't have the burger. I wasn't really impressed with the restaurant on a whole, unfortunately, but if they've got a good burger I'll check again!

The only time I ever ate at what is now Fulton's, was when it was still called the Empress Lily. I went there for a character breakfast which was a pretty novel concept at the time.

When was that? Which characters?

Was that back when it was the Disney Marketplace or whatever it was called before Downtown Disney?

Yes, the Downtown Disney name change happened in 1997, and when I went to the Empress Lilly character breakfast it was around 1994, so it was still called the Disney Village Marketplace.

I believe the breakfast featured Chip 'n Dale as the main characters, if I'm not mistaken.

I remember going to the Empress Lily (named after Walt's wife of course) when it was the fanciest and most exclusive restaurant in all of WDW. We went in the evening and I do not remember any characters being there (except me) so I guess the characters were only in the morning. and believe me this was many moons ago. biggrin

So being completely ignorant I've just been googling Empress Lily. I knew nothing about it. Am I the only one who had never heard about it?

I actually kinda like Fultons. We get a large DVC discount (I think 30%) for lunch there, so we don't mind going there for it. They have a very good crab cake that has a lot of crab, and very little fillers.

The one drawback of Fultons is the service. Some time I can't figure out why it takes so long for us to be seated or for a server to take our order, even when the place isn't full. I remember WAITING several minutes to be seated after the restaurant had just opened (they has seated a couple already, so I know the restaurant is opened and seating customers). I can't believe they make you wait for 5 minutes to be seated in a practically empty restaurant.

Yes, there were no characters other than at breakfast. After that it was, like you said, fine dining.

laugh This has happened to me in a couple of places. I always figure they're just not ready in all of the areas yet. Quite annoying, though!

I think they do this to stagger the stage of service. That way the kitchen isn't doing 100% appetizers, then 100% entrees and the service isn't handling the heavy lifting all at the same time. That's just my theory though.

You know, that's the first explanation I've heard that actually makes sense to me. Thanks, Brad.
