We are going to ride around on the monorail on arrival day, or lounge by the pool at the resort having some drinks before dinner. Non-park day 2 will be lunch, swimming, and dinner before hitting MK at night. Non-park day 3 will be water parks/mini golf or downtown disney. Last non-park day we still havent figured out a plan for. Departure day we will most likely be shopping or swimming, but who knows, maybe one last run through MK.

Gosh.. we almost always have a few non-park days. Can't ever think of a trip when there wasn't. In the past we have resort hopped but don't do that often unless it is to eat. Some things we like:
*renting a boat (do this often)
*Segway Tour at FW (once)
*movies (sometimes 2x a trip, I know some of you are shaking your head-it is just what we like to do. Love the new Fork and Dine or whatever they call it)
*local shopping malls if I can convince my husband (maybe every other trip)
*mini golf
*Discovery Cove (once)
*hang out at the resort-pool, arcade, read on the balcony, fitness center, eat, drink in the bar
*goes with above but the tour at WL, cultural presentations at AKL, admire view from TOWL
*spa (only once but hope for future trips)
*Bob at POR
*Boardwalk
*DTD (always go at least once and usually at least twice)
*hoping to go bowling on our next trip

When I went with my family, we'd always have a few non-park days interspersed with our park days for relaxation, and I really appreciated them. We'd usually rent a car and go to the beach or state parks, or we'd just sleep in our hotel room, or go to the outlet malls...lots of options for more relaxing days than park days!! This time, for my fiance and my honeymoon, we'll have 4 park days in a row and then a 3 night cruise, but our last day will just be in Orlando (off-property) relaxing by the pool and re-cooping from all the fun mickey Since I tend to get sick on vacation yuck relaxation days are definitely needed!

Jan and I made 57 trips to WDW before she passed. I have made 4 since. That averages to about 2240 days. Out of those we only went to the parks 2 times and only the Magic Kingdom. Once in 1971 on opening weekend and once when our grandson was 5 years old. He is now 27. That makes about 2238 non-park days. We have been to every on property Disney resort many times over, eaten in all of them and swam in many of their pools, drank in most of their bars been to DTD hundreds of times and used every form of Disney transportation. If you divest yourself of all outside influences you will find the Disney Magic in every thing you do on the non-park days. However if you try to maintain a schedual that will distract from the Magic. Just don't worry about making reservations, slow bus rides, noisy or rude people. It's your choice as to what you allow to annoy you. The rides are just something you do for a thrill. The Magic is something you feel deep in your hearts and it's all over Disney World.
Joe

I must agree Robyn...I have not been disciplined enough to stay away from a park when in Orlando, even for one day. That AP just calls my name, along with a carrot cake cookie, or a soft serve swirl, or a spin on the People Mover, or a lap around the World Showcase, or ONE more time at the Muppets....what can I do. mickey

Seconded. There's always something more or something that you can do again. Of course, I would love to spend days resort hopping, and but I always seem to find myself in a park for at least half of a day.

Rent a boat and drive around Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. Take a picnic and eat on the water.

Well, I have never had a whole non-park day, but I have had non- park afternoons. Those are normally spent at Downtown Disney, renting a Sea-Raycer, or resort hopping.

On non park days my husband and I like to wander down town Disney, explore other resorts, try new restaurants, ride the monorail, swim, absorb the sun (we live in the snowy north of Michigan), play mini golf, watch Disney's Must Dos on TV, shop, walk the many many trails around Disney property, stop in a beautiful resort lounge and have a drink, relax on the Poly beach and watch the fireworks, also get a wonderful Dole Whip while at the Polynesian. I don't think we have ever had a dull moment while at Disney. There truly is something for everyone!

We go to DTD and spend HOURS and tons of money at the World of Disney. I LOVE that place. Usually lunch at Rainforest or T-Rex, boat ride to POR if the weather is nice. Or we do the Monorail Resort line. Back to the room for some napping. I like to try to schedule Ohana for during or after Wishes on our non park day. It is easier for us to drive to the Poly instead of hours of Disney transportation trying to get there and back to our resort. (Which is NEVER Poly! wink )

I have to admit that I enjoy non-park days at WDW as much as park days. Our latest find was the mini-golf. I didn't think it was my kind of activity but we had so much fun. We love the walking trails too.

Another favourite is to visit other resort hotels maybe for a meal or drinks, but sometimes just to walk round and admire the theming and detail.

I am also in agreement with The Colonel, there are so many great places to have a drink (or should I say drinks!!!) in beautiful or unusual settings. We love bar hopping around the resorts or DTD. Colonel - I miss the adventurers club too!

Joe, I totally agree with you about the magic.

Hi we saw the gingerbread house for the first time this year it was fantastic a real work of art. On non park days with a disney flavour we travel around the different resorts eat in their cafes look in the shops. we try and use all the different types of free Disney transport. We also love speeding around the seven seas lagoon on the speed boats really recommend this. You get to see the MK and the resorts around the lagoon from a whole new angle and you can go out on Bay lake as well. Great fun
