We generally fly Southwest, since they are the only airline flying direct from our city (St. Louis) to Orlando. That makes the choice easy, especially for a short (2 hour) flight. We are not crazy about the boarding procedure but do love that they don't charge for bags, have friendly service and make it easy to cancel or change a flight without losing all the money you have already spent. Southwest has also sent us great rental car offers close to our flight date, particularly for Orlando and Las Vegas.

We were pretty loyal to American a few years ago, but St. Louis is no longer a hub and there aren't many direct flights. Plus, American took away our ability to meaningfully use upgrades and began charging for checked bags.

I usually go with:

1. Whatever flight will get me there earliest
2. Whoever is less expensive

I really do not enjoy flying at all but to be in my happy place it is well worth it!

Well, who knew security would be such a breeze? It's interesting to see the changes that have been made at Charlotte airport in advance of the Democratic National Convention week after next!

I don't know how Joe did it, but he got us free wifi on the plane, so I get to get my Disney fix at 30,000 feet! YAY!

I'm very jealous Jeff - San Francisco is such a great place to visit. clapping

I agree Finn! It might even be a really great place to live! wink Did you know that DisneyLand is only about 6.5 hours from San Fran?? That's 2 hours less than from Charlotte to WDW!

mrhub, Joe got us free GoGo WiFi in the air - very cool.

Cross-country flights are LONG!! We're still in the air. We watched The Hunger Games on the iPad and still have another hour or so. I have a whole new respect for those of you that fly from other countries to WDW!!

Oh ya. I'll let you in on a secret - we are thinking about a trip to San Francisco next year (I've been, DH has never been in California at all). We would end our trip in L.A., and you know, we're already there anyway, so it would be SO easy to just drop by Disneyland for a couple of days! laugh I've sort of just put that out there for him, and I'm letting it percolate for a bit. Some pixie dust, a little persuasion, and maybe Disneyland is in our future! I figure I will play the old home movies of me at Disneyland in the 60's, and he'll think I'm so cute, he'll just HAVE to go to let me recreate the magic. crossfingers

Sorry - sort of got off topic a bit on the previous post - didn't mean to hijack the thread.

We seem to always end up flying either Air Canada (boo! really rude flight crews that are always on strike) or Westjet. Direct flights are our first priority, and any of the American companies we look at always have multiple stops/transfers no matter where we are going. We fly out of London, Ontario, and it's usually a full day of travelling even with minimal transfers - we usually have to head up to Toronto first. Price is the next consideration - we've been very lucky the last few trips, and found great deals.

Being from Scotland we have only a few airlines to choose from but for the last three trips and this years trip we're flying with Virgin. The whole vacation is booked through them infact. As for the planes, leg room is always an issue at 6 foot and with a dodgy knee, but the movies, service and onboard entertainment make up for it.
