Indulging in a hearty breakfast before heading off to the Parks is my favorite way to start the day on my Walt Disney World vacation. I'm a sucker for a leisurely meal and discussion about all the adventures that we are about to experience. On my last trip my son and I stopped in to the charming Grand Floridian Cafe.
The Grand Floridian Cafe is on the first floor of the main building at Disney's Flagship Resort, the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Tucked back behind the beautiful lobby, on your way out to the marina the restaurant sits in a location that offers dining views of the courtyard pool and rose garden.
The pretty decor is highlighted with intricate trellis designs and the light pouring through lace curtained windows. The atmosphere here always seems a bit reserved to me, but the cast members are friendly and it's easy to get a reservation even at the last minute.
The breakfast menu offered at the Grand Floridian Cafe is fairly straight forward breakfast fare with waffles, omelets, and a lobster benedict. They also have a small selections of smoothies and frozen cappuccinos that are fun way to start your morning.
I started off my meal with the Mega-Berry Smoothie which is made from Raspberry Puree and Nonfat Yogurt blended with Odwalla Berries GoMega. I was delighted to discover that both the smoothies and coffee were included in my Disney Dining Plan and the smoothie wasn't an extra charge. It was pretty delicious.
Kirk ordered the classic Grand Floridian Breakfast, the dish is Two Eggs served with Buttermilk Biscuit, Bacon, Sausage, and Cheesy Hash Brown Casserole. He enjoyed it greatly and especially enjoyed the Hash Brown Casserole. While it was a simple meal, he said that he found it to be filling and he would happily eat there again for breakfast.
One of my Disney traditions is that I have to have Mickey Waffles on at least one morning, it just wouldn't be a Disney trip to me without them. I ordered the Mickey Waffles with strawberries, and extra bacon. A little warning here though, the option to get strawberries was not included in the Disney Dining Plan, so she had to charge me for them. However our server was so sweet that she didn't charge me for the extra bacon (which I expected) in order to make up for it.
Overall we had a great start to our morning at the Grand Floridian Cafe. While I'm not sure I would go out of my way to make a reservation here, since we were staying at the Grand Floridian is was the perfect place to start our morning. The Grand Floridian Cafe is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It costs one table service credit per person on the Disney Dining Plan. Have you enjoyed a meal at this Disney restaurant? Let us know what you like most on the menu.

I like the Grand Floridian Cafe. I've had breakfast and lunch. Both good meals.
