There are all sorts of fun and unique souvenirs that can be brought at Walt Disney World to commemorate your vacation, but one of the most charming and endearing of the classic Disney trinkets may be the Silhouettes. The art of silhouette cutting originated in the courts of Europe but had it's heyday in 19th Century America. This beautiful paper craft makes home in the heart of Main Street, and in several other locations across the Walt Disney World property.
The process of having your silhouette cut is quite quick, as Disney's skilled artists make quick work of the job. It takes about 2 minutes to have a single silhouette cut, and it can be done for people of any age. The locations all have have variable hours depending on the day/season. If you stop by and they aren't open, stop by any guest relations to ask for the hours. Because the booths are all outside and artists are working with paper, the locations occasionally close for inclement weather as well.
I can remember being a child and my mother having my sister and I sit for our portraits each year. A reasonable price for a piece of custom art commemorating our childhood. We have many sets that show our growth, and beautifully cut and nicely framed. If you're looking for an elegant souvenir to commemorate your trip, I can't think of a better one.
Have you ever stopped to have your silhouette cut at Walt Disney World? Leave a comment and let us know if this is one of your Disney traditions.
