Adults Only 30th Birthday Girls' Trip!

I'm so behind on our pre-trip report, but better late then never! On April 10th, me and five girlfriends will be going down to Disney World to celebrate my friend's 32nd birthday (a couple of weeks late) and my 30th birthday (a couple of weeks early). We've been talking about taking a girls' trip for years and I am SO excited! I finally broke the news to Penny a couple of days ago and it went over fairly well. I had asked her a few weeks ago how she would feel if mommy went to Disney without her and daddy. Would she be upset? And she told me "Of course! You better just be teasing me!" laugh She knows I'm going on a trip and Jon had the brilliant idea to tell her I'd be close to Disney World while I was gone and would it be a good idea if I stopped in to say hi to the characters for her? She got so excited and said, "YES! Just don't forget the princesses!" So we're in the clear for now at least...

Three of us will be flying in from Minneapolis and one of us will be flying in from Portland on Tuesday night. We will all be arriving fairly late so are probably just going to claim our own luggage before riding over to our Art of Animation family suite on Magical Express. We're planning on being up early the next morning to rope drop a few rides at Hollywood Studios, then will be going back to the hotel to meet up with the other two girls that will be flying in that morning. We'll do lunch at Landscape of Flavors, then back to Hollywood Studios for our Rock'n'Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, and Star Tours FastPasses. We will definitely be hitting up BaseLine Tap House at least once today and are staying for the Star Wars Fireworks which will be a first for me.

Up early again the next morning for rope drop at Magic Kingdom. We've got early lunch reservations at Be Our Guest and FastPasses for Peter Pan's Flight, Splash Mountain, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We'll be leaving right after the Festival of Fantasy parade for Trader Sam's and then dinner at the Wave, then back to close out the park.

Next day is Epcot! I have a pre-park breakfast at Akershus right now, but I'll probably end up dropping that to give us an extra hour of sleep this morning. If we get rid of the pre-park breakfast, we'll rope drop Soarin' and then use our Frozen, Spaceship Earth, and Seas with Nemo FastPasses up quickly in hopes to get a Test Track FastPass for later in the day. I do also have a 10:30am Akershus reservation in case we cancel the pre-park. We'll be doing Flower and Garden for most of the afternoon/evening, possibly Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar (another first for me), and then Smash Mouth is playing that night!

Last full day is Animal Kingdom BRIGHT and early for 8am Extra Magic Hours so we can rope drop Na'vi River, Everest, and Kilimanjaro. We've got FastPasses for Flight of Passage, Kali River, and Dinosaur and we'll probably end up eating lunch at Satuli Canteen. I know we will be EXHAUSTED by this point, so I plan on us finishing Animal Kingdom in the early afternoon so we can go back to the resort for a nap and some pool time. We'll probably do dinner at Polite Pig, and then I have an 8:45pm reservation at Enzo's Hideaway for some drinks and then a 9:30pm reservation at the Edison for even more drinks and entertainment.

Sleeping in today (except for our poor Portland girl who will be picked up by Magical Express before 4am eek ) and then hitting up Disney Springs for some shopping. Lunch is at Morimoto Asia (another first that I've been DYING to try). Our flight out that evening isn't until 8pm so we should have a pretty lazy day before going back to reality.

All girl trips are the best!! Did one two years ago with my grandaughter, her mom and her paternal grandma. We had so much fun and laughed so much! We enjoyed high tea at GF. Caroline was 15 at the time and said it was the highlight of the trip! I made an appointment at GF Ivy Trellis hair salon to have her waist length hair braided in a Frozen style braid and it was beautiful!

In less than 60 days we are headed back, but this time Dad and Boss (Grandpa) get to go along. CA Grill brunch is scheduled. It will be Caroline's first signature restaurant experience. Also have reservations for the Segway tour over in Ft Wilderness. She is already talking about Food and Wine the year she turns 21. muchlove

Today's the day! Magic bands are all painted, suitcase is packed, and I'm leaving for the airport in two hours! Each of us picked a Disney princess as our own for the trip so each band matches each girls' princess.
