The Animation Academy

In the legendary Artistic Photos thread, ZapperZ brought up the Animation Academy, which I've heard several people mention as under rated recently. I think it's a really interesting attraction and I had some questions:

1.) Is there a way to know in advance what they'll teach that day?
2.) How many of you have ever tried it out?

No, you generally do not know what they will be doing in that particular session. It means that you can walk right back in and you'll be drawing a different character, even if the animator is the same person. This is why we often do this a few times during our trips.

And as I've said earlier, even the same character can be drawn in different ways. Mickey has a straight on and a profile. I think Tigger also has several variations, but I've only drawn him (twice) the same way.

Here's a sample:

And just to see if I remembered how to draw it, I practiced on the chalk board in my office at work! Smile

You can make a request......When I did it, the animator asked if we had any requests......we drew Daisy and mine was terrible, but DH's came out pretty nice.

So you can still draw Mickey, can you draw everything else you've learned? They should also give you a commission, because I'm 100% going there on my next trip.

Are you artistic to begin with? I can't draw anything and I'd feel a big sense of accomplishment if I was able to draw a Mickey that well.

No, I don't have any talent in drawing. That's why the class is that good. It gives you guide lines to be able to draw a good Mickey head.

It also means that that's the only one I remember how to draw, since I've done it several times.

Is it always just heads? Do they ever do bodies?

Hi, All! No, I did not save my drawing of Daisy, it was too poor! That was just a head, don't know if they ever do bodies, too.....

What IS a boson, anyway? wink

Yes! What is it?? (I have a feeling you've told us before, but I've clearly forgotten. You should post a picture of one/it.)

Oy vey! laugh

A boson is a particle that has an integer value for its spin angular momentum quantum number, i.e. 0, 1, 2, 3, ... etc. A photon is an example of a boson, it has a spin quantum number of 1.

There! Aren't you sorry you asked! laugh
