Chicago At Night

So I live in Chicago, and I've always wanted to take a picture of the Chicago skyline at night. Of all the years that I've been here, I've never had the opportunity to do that, until recently. After spending a wonderful evening at the Members Night at the Field Museum, I stopped by along the isthmus leading to the Adler Planetarium, and took this picture. Yes, I was prepared and planned to do this that evening, so I had my tripod with me.

I think many people, including the locals, forget how beautiful the city is.

That's just stunning. You don't usually see so many *colors* in a city skyline; the reflection in the water of the bright yellow, green, red, and blue is really interesting. I also really like what the sky was doing for you that night.

How many pics did you take? My problem with photographing skylines is that I always want to do a panoramic photo of the whole thing and inevitably have to choose which "section" to represent.

I took quite a few, as you can guess, with a few tight shots. I only wish I had a wide-angled lens camera. This was taken using my trusty point-and-shoot Canon Digital Elph.

It's really interesting how the reflections in the water show the colors on the building more vividly than the buildings themselves. That's a great shot.

What timing.

Not even a week after I posted my picture, this Yahoo Travel article on the most stunning skyline listed Chicago as one of the cities! Smile
