Ever Been to Ponce Inlet Lighthouse?

Ponce Inlet, located just south of Daytona, has a beautiful lighthouse. If you're into history, or have little kiddoes that you'd like to wear out, check it out! It's one of the prettiest things to see in Central FL IMO.

I've never been, but it looks absolutely beautiful. Are there other "sights" around there to combine with a trip to the lighthouse?

Every time I see one of these cool things, I always feel a little bad that I rarely leave property. Maybe if we got to Florida more often we'd try more things.

It's right on the beach, so you could actually do a beach day. The other neat thing...it sits at the mouth of the Ponce Inlet, which leads into the Halifax, the Intracoastal waterway in that part of FL. You might be able to find boat rentals and spend some time on the Halifax...it's a really neat place to boat. There's a sandbar at low tide called "Disappearing Island" that the locals pull up to, grill, socialize, and party. When the sun is high and the water is just right, it can look almost like the Caribbean all the the lighthouse behind you. Gorgeous. (I should dig out some pics.)

There are also some good restaurants - seafood places - that you can either drive or boat right up to. If you're into racing at all, there is, of course, Daytona Speedway just up the road, and I believe they have attractions open all the time.

I totally get that. There's something sooooo relaxing about the escape you feel inside those purple arches! mickey
