Final Decision Made!!!

After much deliberation between resorts.......I'll be surprising my girlfriend with a birthday trip (with proposal).....

*drum roll*

ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE!! I got us 6 nights, Club Level, standard room with savannah view....$2,881.74 with the Summer Discount!

Threw away POR and CSR when I realized I could afford deluxe. I threw away GF, CR, and Poly due to price. I threw away WL because I didn't want fully rustic. Last but not least...I threw away BC and BWI because I got a deal for Club Level, it's not as quiet and serene as AKL, andddd there aren't any animals in BWI and BC! lol

I'm so excited.....and because I decided to stay at AKL with Club Level, I'm cancelling our character breakfast in Tusker House before our day in AK and I'm going to book the Sunrise Safari/Breakfast instead. My TA and myself thought it'd be the much better option.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Questions?

yay clapping awesome

We have stayed AKL CL SV. You are going to LOVE it, as will she. I know of very few places on Earth where you can pull back your hotel room drapes and see a giraffe. It's incredible. And the CL staff are incredible. We have not done the Safari Sunrise breakfast, but have thought about it. It sounds incredible.

Congrats on making a decision, and a great one at that!

We've been there a few times and love the hotel. It's absolutely beautiful and the view is amazing. Just a couple of things to keep in mind. The interior of the rooms are not very well lit. I highly recommend bringing a bright light for things like make-up. My wife is always complaining that it's too dark in the bathroom.

Too true! Love the decor and everything, but it is dimly lit. Never thought about bringing a light. Good tip. awesome

First off...my girlfriend doesn't wear makeup.

Second...weird thing too....Unofficial Guide rates AKL's lighting as an "A" (A - F grading). But ok! lol

I agree, it can be dimly lit depending on the room. In rooms that you get a good amount of sunlight (on an open savanna not by corners) I never notice. But when we're in a room that depends mostly on electric lights (6th floor rooms have serious overhang from the roof) it's never enough.

Just to show you how far Jan and I were out of sink with the rest of the normal world we stayed at Pop Century for five nights many times for just over $400.00. Of course that is the only reason we could go 4 times a year.

We usually don't stay at POP unless we can get the rate around or below $100/night. That's with an AP discount of course though.
