Food & Wine vs. Flower & Garden

We've done both the F&W and the F&G Festivals and I enjoyed them both but the hands down winner for us is the Food & Wine. I loved all the booths and the surprisingly affordable options. We sampled food from around the world all day long. The best part was the booths accepted the dining plan as SNACK credits! And we are totally those people who have 45 snack credits left over at the end of the day.
I enjoyed the Flower & Garden Festival and I will be the first to admit it's much prettier than the F&W but if I was forced to make a choice between the two it'd be easy for me.

What are your thoughts?

Flower and Garden doesn't hold a candle. It's nice to visit but Food and Wine is an EVENT. I'm trying to think of an event or anything at F&G that I really look forward to. What am I forgetting?

I have to say I love Food and Wine as well. Flower and Garden is beautiful, but I can't keep a plant alive as hard as I try! Food and Wine is more universally appealing...

FOOD!

I would love to go but they are always when school is in session and since I get two months vacation in the summer I feel as if it's wrong of me to take off of work for a mini vacation during the school year. I love loking at pics though and would definitely choose food & wine!

Definitely F&W for me. I'm a foodie anyway, so I love watching Epcot's World Showcase turn into an international food fair; even more than it already is.

F&G, I consider more of something to put in the background. In other words, it makes touring Epcot a more pleasant experience because of the scenery, but I don't make Epco a specific destination because of it. My itinerary at Epcot wouldn't be changed by it, though it would be enhanced.

Oh, this is a tough one! I love the flower and garden festival, but I don't really take part in anything there.

So F&W will win it for me!

I have a couple of questions about the wine and food festival. Smile

1) Do we need tickets to attend? If so, what comes with the tickets? How much are tickets?

2) How do tasting booths work? Are they free with the ticket puchase? For tastings that cost, can we charge back to our room or do we need cash or cc?

3) Can we purchase bottles of wine from visiting vendors?

4) What is the Party for the Senses? And how do we get tickets for it?

Thank you!!

Serinity:

1.) Just an Epcot park ticket.
2.) Since there's no real admission, the booths charge money. You can use dining plan credits for some of the items though.
3.) You can. They do presentations and try to get you to do just that.
4.) Party For The Senses is a big deal, relatively expensive party, I've never been so maybe someone else has more details?

You can also check out the Disney Food Blog for more info. They have great coverage. Their F&W page is here:

Just a quick note on the Party for the Senses, here are the details for this year: http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2010-party-for-the-senses/.

Looks like Cirque du soleil is coming back to entertain during the parties this year, so that's a big deal!

Also, you have access to a lot of the regular F&W stuff with just an Epcot park ticket, but you CAN buy tickets for special events, culinary demonstrations, and things like that. Those tickets go on sale July 20th as far as I know. Some stuff is cheap --$9 per person -- and some stuff is expensive like the signature dinners with celebrity chefs and the Party for the Senses.

Are you thinking of going? mickey

I would love to, but not this year. We'll be at WDW for our honeymoon in 2011, which happens to be during the Wine and Food Festival.

I'm planner over-planner. cool

Oh, that's right! Sounds great. I think next year Epcot's having its 30th anniversary during that time as well, so maybe there will be some fun goings-on for that!

I think this is exactly my feeling as well. F&G is cool and if it's on I'll check some stuff out. But F&W is a BIG DEAL to me.

No such thing. That's part of the fun!
