Hello from a first timer!

Hey all. My name is Jennifer and I am an entertainment photographer from Southern Cali. My husband and I are going to WDW for the first time ever at the end of October 2011 for our 5 year wedding anniversary and I am really looking forward to it! We make it a point to go to Disneyland at least once a year for Christmastime, it's our favorite, but always try to go more if we can.

Well, I really look forward to chatting with you all in here! Be prepared for a lot of questions from me, being a noob and all. (Sorry in advance.)

Hello! Ask anything you like, I do! Everyone here is really friendly Smile

Make sure you tell castmembers when you book your hotel/dining reservations that it's your 5 year anniversary! Also you can get badges from guest services when you arrive at the park saying it's your anniversary on. You get extra attention Smile

welcome and bring on the questions we don't mind them because it gives us a chance to talk about our favorite subject WDW. Like pego already said this is a very friendly place.

Welcome! We love questions! Disney World at Christmastime is a madhouse, how does Disneyland compare?

Have you made all your WDW plans yet?

Thanks for the welcomes!

dsoup - We always go on the first or second Tuesday in December, that was the crowds are smaller cause it's a weekday AND kids are still in school. We always ride everything we want to before lunch, hop over to DCA and do everything there, go back to Dland, ride things over again and still have time to get a coffee before picking a spot for the fireworks. We try to keep the same system cause it seems to work for us, haha.

As far as my WDW plans.... I have booked a package and paid most of it off already. We are going to be there 9 days (Oct. 25th - Nov. 2nd)are staying at POP and have park tickets for 5 days. We are taking 1 day off to experience things outside the park (Downtown Disney, other hotels, Boardwalk..) and another day to (gasp!) go to Universal to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
I already have all my dinner ideas planned out I just need to wait till April to make my ADR's, haha. I'm loving all the planning, it's so much fun!

We are on the DDP and I am hoping to save my snack credits to spend at Food and Wine. We have 2 days scheduled for Epcot cause I want to see as much as possible, haha. Some of my friends laugh at me case I always talk about the places we eat on our trips..

Going to Disney is ALL about the eating! (Well, maybe not all, but it's certainly a big deal.) Welcome, I'm so excited that this is your very first trip. You sound like such a pro already. Are there any rides especially that you are looking forward to, especially those that you can compare with similar rides at Disneyland?

You've definitely come to the right place if you like to talk about food!

Are you going to get a chance to see Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party?

Haha, thanks! I have really been doing my research. A friend told me this is one trip you really want to plan out as much as you can and gave me some great advice. I got a few books, listen to Lou Mongello's podcast and joined a few boards for fun. :Innocent

Most of the rides I am looking forward to are the ones we don't have out here actually. I am so excited for Mission:Space, Rockin Rollercoaster, Expadition Everest and World Showcase. There is more but I can't think of them right now for some reason, haha.

We haven't really decided yet. If the day we are going to the MK turns out to be a MNSSHP night then we really might. The idea sounds so fun to me!

Hi Jennifer! Glad you joined!

We did Disneyland for the first time last year and we LOVED it. We still love WDW too, but it was so fun to get the chance to try new things in the same kind of atmosphere. I bet you'll get the same kind of enjoyment out of WDW. MNSSHP is wonderful, but it can be a bit crowded at the end of October, so be prepared. It's still probably worth going if you can get a ticket though, it's really cool.

It's good that you're enjoying the planning, it's part of the fun!

Welcome welcome!! I love all these new members we've been getting lately!!!!

I love hearing about first timers trips..it is so awesome to see it through their eyes because sometimes I forget how AWESOME that place is to someone who has never been there before.

Hi Jennifer!

Welcome to WDW For Grownups! I've been to WDW eight times (seven of them solo) and to DL once (March 1-3, 1998 with a severely infected ingrown right big toenail). I have eaten in most of the WDW restaurants, my favorite being in my screen name. Feel free to ask any of us for tips. My favorite ride in DL is (was?) the Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Seven solo trips...that must be so awesome! I'd love to take a solo trip one day!

Hi Jennifer,

October is a great time for an anniversay at WDW(will be our 29th on 10-30)!! Hope you have a wonderful time. If I could offer a suggestion for F&W Festival, go to Epcot during the week(unless of course you are planning to attend one of the special weekend events). Epcot is extremely crowded on the weekends for F&W, especially Friday night and all day Saturday, with the addition of the locals. Sunday can be crowded as well. Long lines for all of the food booths!! Much the opposite during the week.

Have fun!!

I second what Skunk says about crowds! Even as a local, I try to avoid F&W during the weekends to avoid all the other locals biggrin But it's SUCH a great event.

We're an Oct couple too - we actually got married in FL (though we lived in ATL at the time.) This year will mark 10 for us!

Yay for your anniversary and thanks for the comment. The way our schedule is worked out we are going to Epcot on Saturday Oct. 29th but the plan is to stay mostly in Future World cause we have a second day at Epcot on Tuesday Nov. 1st. On our Saturday there we might do a some walking around World Showcase and we will (hopefully) have an ADR for dinner but I think we will check out the F&W kiosks on the Tuesday we go, which is also our final day.

Hey all!! So I haven't been on here in a super long time and I realized the other day that I really missed this place, LoL. I hope you guys don't mind me coming back!

Wanted to post somewhere to start and I see there are LOTS of new people since I was last here. So.. I again, I'm Jennifer. I am a photographer and a Disney addict. My first trip to WDW was AMAZING and I am (VERY slowly) writing about it on my blog. One change, my husband and I became Annual Passholders for Disneyland Resort in the time I have been gone, I'm loving it! I have lots to share so I hope I can catch up on all that I have missed!
