Interactive park experiences

The turtle talk vs. laugh factory question was posed in ride vs. ride, and I realized that I really like both because of the interactive nature and never-the-same-twice quality. For those of us who go to WDW regularly, it's great to have some attractions that are always changing with every show.

Where are the other ones? Are there some I'm forgetting, or is Disney planning more for the future? AS both of these are rather new, these might be the "next generation" of attractions?

I heard that some of the construction they're doing in Tomorrowland is to put up a screen where Stitch will be interactive. I guess it'll be as people walk by. That could get pretty interesting.... almost like a PUSH kind of experience but with Stitch. I know my kid would love that!

He already spits at you in Downtown Disney whether you want him to or not! I actually think that sounds like fun. More attractions without lines.

I haven't seen PUSH or the palm tree in a while...are they still out and about?

We saw PUSH in Tommorowland last month, but didn't catch DiVine at DAK.

The Mr. Potato Head Audio-Anamatronic in the queue area of Toy Story Midway Mania is interactive, and can actually speak to guests in line.

I was really impressed by this idea. You have a really long line for that ride often, I think it's great that they turned it into a show, essentially. I wish he had a bit more variety in his "schtick," but I will say that pretty much everyone moving through that part of the ride is raptly watching Mr Potatohead, which means they're not groaning about how long the line is.

Theme park attractions are like movies, once you've seen them you know the ending and will be less excited to see them again. (I mean who really wanted to see the Crying game a second time?) Interactive rides however are more like Video Games (Heck, Some ARE video games) Adding an element of diversity and as such bringing up the replay value. The problem with this is you loose the story in the game. When you get off space ranger spin do you go, "Wow, that was an interesting story of Zerg stealing batteries to power his death machine. Fortunately Buzz Lightyear and the Squeaky martians foiled his plot just in time. Oh and what a great laser battle at the end." Or do you go, "Dude, I beat your High Score!"

Personally I think the way to go would be a choose your own adventure book style ride. Years ago I was working with a theme park (That went Under, otherwise you may be riding instead of hearing about this.) on a dark ride attraction called DEMENTIS. basicly you could ride and you friend could ride 10 minutes later and have a very diffrent experience.

In what capacity were you working on it? Engineering? Software? Story? I'm intrigued!

This is where I think Horizons was ahead of its time, when you could choose how to end your ride--living in Space, the Desert, or underwater.

And Spaceship Earth is at least starting to go this direction with their new post-ride "develop your future" thing.

It's fun. It's interactive. It's never the same. And it makes me want to ride again and again.

Original Concept, Story and preliminary Art and Design. I Had done some art design work for the park and had been working with them on another attraction. (Halloween themed wagon ride for October.) When I originally wrote that post I had described the whole system but since no one has done anything like it I still wonder if there is someone I can present it too.

Sure, I just have to figure this out. The first is an attraction poster for a concept I have for the retheming of a amusement park dive show. The second is a T-Shirt Graphic for a fellow Musician.

Ok, Im trying to get the pics to work, a little help...

Most people host on something like ImageShack and just link to the pics from there.

What tools do you use to generate the images? Photoshop? I like the Dracula one but I'm a little weirded out by it being a diving show?!?

I'm using Fireworks, It's an older copy but when you are on a budget.

The existing attraction is a standard diving show and is located in the Halloween section of the park. (It was there before the park had themed areas.)

The basic story is a young couple VS evil. at the end Dracula burst into flame and falls from the top tower. I thought it was a cool Idea but they never got back to me, oh well.

Anything bursting into flames and falling from a tower has to be a crowd-pleaser cool

Photoshop etc are off the charts as far as prices. I don't know why there are so many tutorials all over the net. Does everyone just steal a copy?

We loooooove the end of Spaceship Earth! muchlove We actually recorded our little video the second time around so we could laugh about it later!

Kim Possible is another really cool interactive experience. We got to play around with it a bit during soft opening and did the adventures in France and England. They each take about a half hour and are a fun new way to experience the different countries. We can't wait to finish the rest when we go back!

You can email it to yourself, but I think it doesn't have your picture on it.

I think the email is just a still photograph of you in character, and not a video.

Thanks for the reply! DiVine is fantastic; I have some friends who go to AK specifically to see her.

Reminds me of the emails you can send from Journey into Imagination--those are great, free, and yet another interactive experience that there are always lines for.

I just remembered as well that they used to have that "soundstage" attraction in MGM where they chose people out of the audience to make movies/tv shows.

I think people really love that stuff.
