Lunch at Fresh Mediterranean Market in Disney World's Swan

I had lunch today at Fresh Mediterranean Market. We're staying at the Swan and were waiting for our room to be ready so it was very convenient. They apparently don't open for lunch until 11:30, so we had to wait. But it was a very nice option for a light and easy lunch.

One problem I encountered was that I was really craving a salad, but all the salads were intended to be entrees. I didn't let this stop me though, and I went ahead and got one:

It was pretty good, but not worth the $12 in my opinion. If I had added shrimp or chicken and made it a meal, it would have been fairly filling, but pretty light in my opinion.

DW had a videlia onion soup, which she loved. I found it a bit too sweet for my liking:

She also had the chicken panini, which I also wanted to order. In the name of quality journalism, I let her get the panini:

We both loved it. It has a very strong taste of pesto, but I didn't mind. The bread was really good as well. Because i let her get the chicken (which I ate nearly half of), I got the ham and cheese sandwich:

It was actually pretty good, but I would have preferred it on the panini bread. The fries that came with both sandwiches were very good as well.

All of the meals come with a trip to the dessert buffet:

I did a separate thread with pictures of the dessert buffet, here if you want more details. I'd say that the desserts were all pretty good overall. Nothing I would absolutely have to have again, but all above average.

It looks tasty but... um... I don't know if I would call that a salad. The chicken panini looks amazing too.

Brad that grilled ham & Cheese looks real good as well, is that grilled onions I see in the middle of the sandwich?

It had onions and pickles as well. I really liked the innards, the bread was just a little too...floppy. It may have been because we always spend so long taking pictures before we start eating. laugh

That's what I was thinking!! I was wondering if some of it was hidden in the wedge or something? That looks like a twelve dollar head of lettuce.

For $12, please tear my lettuce up, please Smile

But the sandwiches look yum! And Vettelover stole my question - so caramelized onions on the ham and cheese? Nice touch!

Brad, was there any dressing on those pieces of lettuce, like Ceasar dressing for example cause it looks like it's a do it yourself Ceasar salad.

Yeah it was actually a pretty decent caesar. There was plenty of dressing, but like you said it's still pretty steep at $12.

Haha - while that salad does look good, I think you're right - at least humor me with 1 shrimp or 1 strip of chicken. I would feel better with the $12 price.

Of course, I would totally make up for the $12 salad by eating $467 worth of cake pops biggrin

Jeff could see that being so true! Heck I'm craving those cake pops now.
