New World Showcase country?

I have been hearing rumors running wild about a new pavillion that will be built in Epcot"s World Showcase. That being BRAZIL, what does everyone think about it. I think we have recently gained a couple of members from there so what do they think. Heres a link to just one of the recently published articles about it.

I beleive the Orlando Sentinel newspaper also had a story on it but I couldn't find it off the top of my head.
Sorry I am completely computer illiterate so you have to put up with it.
Heck someone told me to turn on my computer once so I blew into the puter and said "nice computer, Nice computer but still nothing happened.
OK link appears to be working now. Smile

I've seen some stories on this. Brazil would be a fun addition.

Link's working now! I clicked through to the original article just to see if it was written on April 1st! laugh It wasn't, of course. I wonder what's going to happen here. My guess is that it's just "in talks," but you never know!

I've heard a new country mentioned a couple of times. Australia was in line at one time iirc.

Brazil would be really cool, but where would it go? Would it replace a current one? Which leads me to a question... if it does replace one... which would you want replaced?

Personally I see this as an addition... but just wondering where in the world (no pun intended) it would go

It is not readily apparent from walking around world showcase but there is actually room for six new pavillions to be built without any destruction or infringement on any of the existing pavillions. I will attempt to locate the layout map that shows this to be a fact, it is due to advance planning from the mickey architects.

There's a gap between USA and Italy that appears big enough to fit another country into.

yes.. they talked about this on the Backstage Magic Tour... apparently the Soviet Union was once considered but at the time the USSR wasnt a friend of the USA soooo.. that was axed. Other countries have been considered throughout the years.. Brazil, India, Australia, but I think the one they said came closest was Spain.

Yeah... its just nuts that there is room, when ya walk around it... its just so fluid into one another. But a total of six? Wow..... wonder why its taken so long for another country to be added. I guess money... but since the time of Epcots inception were talking 2 new parks. An addition to Fantasy Land in the MK and new rides over top of old ones and such.

If Brazil is added it could be fun. I don't know how likely it is to happen, but it would be nice for Epcot to do something special for it's 30th anniversary next year. Of course it wouldn't be ready by then, but they could announce something like this. It would add a great drink into the drinking around the world game, so that's a plus.

I've heard this rumor off and on for years..I would really love to see another country added. I think Brazil would be a neat one to see..Australia as well. I would really like to see an African Country represented..even though they have sort of the whole African thing already at AK..but I still think Egypt or something would be nice.

Wdw had extended the invitation to a few different countries but with a particular price tag for the upkeep every year and some countries just didn't see the purpose as most people from each of the countries do not feel that it properly shows their true selves and perpetrates stereotypes

I can definitely see why they'd think that. Fortunately I think everyone knows that you're getting a Disney-fied version of everything anyway.

There were rumors of an Australian part being added to AK, but I haven't heard anything else about that. I agree with Raven; they could have a LOT of fun with the drinks (Woot! Caiphirinhas!) and the food - look how awesomely popular Brazilian steakhouses have become. PLUS - it could be a real party atmosphere, and Carnivale might even compete with Universal's Mardi Gras. And Brazilians definitely vacation at WDW. I'm intrigued. I think it would be fun, and would breathe a little new life into my ab fave Disney attraction.

I bet Australia would be great, but I'd like something a little more varied from European/American countries. I mean I love Canada and their pavilion is one of my favorites, but it's a lot more similar to America than say Morocco. I'd really like to see something South American or something sub-Saharan.

Don't get me wrong though. I'm not saying Aussies and Canadians aren't weird! silly

Oh Canadian's are very weird indeed Smile But I love being weird and I love the Canada part at WDW especially since I get to WDW more than I do the actual country these days Sad I'm so going to fill up on Canadian goodies when I get there like I did last time he he.
