Once Upon a Time

Hi -

I first experienced Disneyland on December 31, 1964 or was it 1965? Who knows. Anyway, Univ of Michigan was playing in the Rose Bowl against Washington (I think) and Disneyland was part of a package trip offered by the University to students. It was great - I think we even went to Disneyland, the Rose Bowl parade and the game itself . . . I think.

Several visits to Disneyland as part of work travel

Disney World opens - it is everyone's dream destination. Then EPCOT - gotta go again.

Took the kids to Disney World several times - talk about Chirstmas being a "production."

Well, now I am a grownup, an engineer and, within the next week, retired. Disney is still a favorite destination but not for the usual reasons. I like the technology. I like to ride the rides looking backward to see how they did that. Some of the rides scare the heck out of me like Test Track and Tower of Terror (is it a coincidence that there are so many T's in those)? They don't scare me for the usual reasons, however. My fear is that I know the limits and possible problems with the technology - you won't catch me on either of those rides.
Disney World does, however, provide a great escape to the world of magic no matter what your personal magic is. There's something new around every corner and pixiedust abounds! Having been to Disney World 20, maybe 30+ times over the years many people ask, "Don't you get tired of it?" Heck no! And if you do, you should go back to Once Upon a Time, Very Long Ago and return to the wonder magic. It doesn't get any better than WDW. I'll be back.

I think it's truly fascinating how many different types of people can enjoy a place like that--it holds interest for just about everyone. Problem is getting people to GO and TRY to see how it can be interesting to them.
