Rides and larger sized people

Hubby and I have been getting VERY excited about our trip....too bad it's not till December! As we are preparing, we've been watching a lot of videos on YouTube of rides- we haven't been in almost 20 years!

Hubby is a little concerned about size. He is somewhat of a larger-sized guy and does not want to be embarrassed if he can't fit. Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Are there rides you found difficult to get in/out or have the harness or seat belt fit?

Thanks all!

Well from personal experiance. Hubby and I are both non-small people and neither of us had any problem what-so-ever on any rides at WDW. The teacups were fun to nagivate into, but other than that - no problems. We didn't do rides like Dumbo or Aladdin's Carpet Ride though so I'm not sure how those are. In comparison DH and I spent a 1/2 day at Islands of Adventure at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and they almost made DH get off the only ride we went on. Thankfully he squished in the last second, but it was an uncomfortable ride for both of us. Sad

The only problem that I've had is when a cast member tried to tell us that 4 of our party would fit into the back seat of some ride. I laughed and said "You've got to be kidding, we are not going to fit in there" the cast member then sheepishly split our party in two and everything was fine. The picture below is of the group I was with. I'm the second from the right and I'm 5'7" for perspective.

None of us really have a problem with the Disney rides, however there is an occasional turnstile issue on the older attractions that is more difficult for folks that are both short and round. I occasionally have to sit in an awkward position to fit my long legs in, but it's not something that I really worry about. I've never not been able to ride a ride and I've never been treated rudely by Disney cast members because of my size.

Hope that helps!

Yeah.... I hate saying it, but im on the bigger size now due to the wonderful world of steroids! But anyways... im hoping to getting down to my fighting weight by November since im off and my IV treatment is working, but last November I didnt have any issues at all, except for like Kristen said a couple turn styles. Especially when I have a backpack on my back. That didnt help things at all. The only ride I can actually think of that may had been a issue was Space Mountain. I didnt get my lever down as far as I would had liked, and felt like I was trying to stay in the car for my life! But found out my wife had the same issue and she is no where near my size. So again.... not sure if it was due to my size... or the ride is just waiting for someone to fly out and be plastered on the wall! lol

Congrats for being off the steroids! My husband just come off after being on for a year due to lung problems. He's so happy not to be starving all of the time, and is hoping to lose some of those pounds he packed on.

Its flippin tough to get them off now. I thought just cutting pop, drinking water would do it. I got no where at all! You got to understand... I would drink 4-6 cans of pop a day! So were talking anywhere between 500 to 700 calories gone a day! It didnt budge at all. So now the weather is nice. Im not hurting from everything now, im gonna attack this crap! LOL

But yeah... steroids just suck... period. Its a love hate relationship with them. While they make you feel like your on top of the world. They then make you lash out at everyone, and gain weight for no reason.

Kristin K.: After a not-so-great day at work your picture put a smile on my face and all I could think of was the line in an old Paul McCartney song:
"Ladies and gentlemen, those magnificent examples of female pulchritude and luminosity, direct from their global perambulations..."

Also, I am on 'roids for a lung issue too. Only side effect I've noticed is an increased need to get back to WDW to eat Mickey bars.
