RunDisney Registration Complete, and a Special Thanks to JoAnn C! Princess 5K Here We Come!

yay yay yay yay yay yay

Beyond excited. I just registered for my very first RunDisney event - the Princess 5K in February. I'll be running with my sister in-law who is also excited because its her first girl's trip (without the hubby and the kids) in forever!

Anybody have any tips or advice they'd like to share about what to expect?

Special shout out and thanks to JoAnn for all of her help. I was a total rookie and JoAnn gave me all kinds of important and awesome information to get me ready to register. It would have been so much harder without your help, JoAnn. Thank you so much!

How exciting! yay
I'm doing the 5K also (with my Dad, his first race!) and the Glass Slipper Challenge biggrin RunDisney races are so much fun and so far Princess weekend has been my favourite! Are you planning on dressing up? Lots of people do especially for the 5K. I'm not sure if I am for the 5K yet but for the 10K and Half I'm dressing up as Rapunzel.

As for tips and advice:
-if you know of any merchandise you want from the Expo beforehand, go early! They sell out of things the first day sometimes.
-make sure you arrive early enough on the Thursday to pick up your bib and race packet. They don't allow anyone to pick them up for you.
-Usually ALL onsite Disney resorts are Host resorts. Host resorts provide transportation to the Expo and Races.
- Be prepared for an early wake up call eek The 5K starts at 6:15am but you usually have to be on a bus no later than 5:00am
- Most important tip of all, HAVE FUN! The 5K is not a timed race and there are lots of characters and photo ops along the way mickey

see you there awesome

How exciting! So happy for you!

I have been on and off about registering... I really need to discuss with the hubby when he gets home before I do it.

Question... What is the latest you can pick up the packet??? I don't want to take 2 days off of work to be there Thursday to get it. Can you get them on Friday?

I really want to do this. I hope he says ok crossfingers

You have to pick it up Thursday if you're doing the 5K on Friday. You have until the expo closes,it was 8:00pm last year I think.
You might be able to call RunDisney to make special arrangements to pick it up at the race but I'm not sure confused

Thanks, Spook! These are great tips. I hope we can find a few minutes to say hi in person while we're down there. I'm thinking at a minimum I'll wear a tiara or a crown, but I'd love to go all out. My sister in-law is a wild card on that one though, she's much more reserved than I am!

Remember to have fun! When I did the Tower Ten Miler, I had noticed these ladies that were from the same corral as me so I decided to keep pace with them. they were also encouraging one another as well. They had ended up accepting me into their group which made it easier for me to complete the race. If not for them, I don't think I would have finished the race.

All the dates are on the rundisney site. They haven't listed the times yet though. The 5K is Friday February 19 and you'll have to attend the Expo on Thursday. This year the Expo was open 10:00am-8:00pm on Thursday so it should be the same.
