So we haven't gone in forever. We keep putting it off and imagine we'll go sometime soon, but it doesn't seem to fit our schedule. Should we just go ahead and book a room? We can always cancel it and it will give us something tangible to plan for. I fear otherwise we'll just keep putting it off. What do you guys think?

This is exactly what we did.
We kept saying..oh we'll book later, we'll book when we have more money etc..but we kept spending money on different stuff when we could have been saving..so we just went ahead and booked it! We are totally 99% positive we are going but if something happens we've booked far enough in advance that we can change it.

Well, it sounds like the answer's unanimous! I agree; just book it. And I might take that advice too. I know that once I do, I'll be pretty committed though. I'm not good and booking and cancelling... If I don't book, I don't have anything to lose if I have to cancel; but if I DO book, then I have to go through the heartbreak of cancelling if necessary. Hmm...

I always book something from 6 months to almost a year in advance.
Sometimes I can go, sometimes I can't, but at least if all the stars line up
in my favor, I'm in and staying where I want to.
I think DVC requires more planning than the hotels so that forces me to book.
