10 Reasons Fall Is My Favorite Time Of Year To Visit Walt Disney World

One of the most frequent questions I get asked when discussing Walt Disney World travel with people, is what time of year is best to travel. While my answer is always dependent on the interests of those inquiring, I also make mention of when I like to travel. Year after year Fall continues to be one of my favorite times of year to visit Walt Disney World, here are ten reasons why.

1. When the crypt doors creak and the tombstones quake Spooks come out for a singing wake it's time for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. This family friendly hard ticket event happens on select nights, mostly in September and October. This party is fantastic for a lot of reasons, but my favorite is because of the Boo-To-You Parade, which I think is one of Disney's very best.

2. Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is home to so many delicious tastes and flavors, and it only happens in the Fall. Foodie fans flock to this annual event that is going on now through November 13, 2017. Guests can stroll the 1.2 mile World Showcase promenade and purchase small plates and tastings from A record number 35 marketplace booths that feature cuisine from across the globe.

3. As if this wonderful food festival wasn't enough of a reason to go, festival time at Epcot also brings along the Eat To The Beat Concert Series. Music fans delight as they are treated to three shows a night by popular headliners. And the concerts are included in your admission to Epcot!

4. Once you get past September, the Florida summer heat begins to cool off and temps for touring are just about right. You may even want a sweater if you plan on being by the water after dark.

5. Fall is fantastic because as most of America's kids head back to school -
crowd levels drop and the grown-ups come out to play. During the week so crowds can be smaller especially during the week.

6. Value Season Rates are a fantastic reason to visit the Disney Parks. Weekdays in September, and select days in October and November are the most budget friendly times of the year to get your Disney fix in.

7. Seasonal sweets are one of those things you can always count on from Disney, but during Autumn they take on a spectacularly spooky note! Designs range from Jack Skellington, to Mummies, and Pumpkins all served up with some seasonal style.

In 2017 year, the race weekend includes a brand new Disney Fall Feast 5K, in addition to the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon, Disney Wine & Dine 10K, Disney Two Course Challenge and runDisney Kids Races. There are sure to be be plenty of surprises in store with lots of Disney entertainment, as well as an exclusive Post-Race Party for runners and their guests.

9. Those with friends on the other side can make reservations to the special hard ticket event hosted by Dr. Facilier, Club Villain. From September 2 - October 29, 2017 Friday and Saturday nights in the Sunset Showcase turn into a special event space filled with" fabulous performances, delicious food, bewitching cocktails and enchanting encounters with some legendary Disney villains." Guests can learn more or make reservations by calling 407-WDW-DINE.

10. Walt Disney World's Anniversary is October 1! I also happen to have been born in 1971 and have been visiting the vacation kingdom ever since. Being there on this special day for the resort is one of my favorite things. In 2017 the opening of Uncle Walt's Florida Project will be celebrating 45 truly magical years.

Fall is my favorite time of the year, cooler temps, colors changing, Halloween & Thanksgiving. We have almost always gone to WDW in October. 20-25 years ago it was much less crowded, granted the parks close earlier, however we felt like we had the place to ourselves. I still prefer to go in the fall, fewer kids & cooler temperatures. There's just something about being in WDW in the evening and having to put on a long sleeve T-shirt or sweatshirt because it gets cold. If you don't have one with you it's a good excuse to buy one!
I always want to go to WDW. But when it starts getting cooler, I REALLY want to go. This year we went at the end of January, similar temps & less crowded like the fall. We're scheduled to go back for around Dec. 18-20th, this is my second favorite time to go because of the Christmas decorations.

I'm heading for WDW toward the end of October - this will be my first fall trip!! I have been in summer (June, July, and August) and "winter" (December) but never fall. I LOVE fall at the Disneyland resort, and I'm sure WDW won't disappoint. Looking forward to my first Food & Wine and my first MNSSHP. Bring it on!
