Since it first debuted Tomorrowland in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom has always been fighting against time. It's the only land that is continually up against a constant clock, and Disney Imagineers are always working to keep its environments, attractions, and overall "theme" in the future. During some decades this has been easier to achieve than others. What we have currently is a sort of 1950's retro-future kitsch - yet somehow it works. Read on to find out (in no particular order) five reasons I love Tomorrowland.
Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin
Battle along side Buzz Lightyear as you test your skill while fighting against the Emperor Zurg! Space Rangers will board their XP-37 star cruisers and use two laser canons to rack up points by shooting at targets. It's a fun romp through the galaxy, with a little friendly competition between traveling companions.
Frozen Coke at The Lunching Pad
This fun, frozen, carbonated beverage give as whole new meaning to the phrase "Have A Coke and A Smile." The slushy delicious drink has always been a favorite of mine and if you're in the Magic Kingdom, The Lunching Pad is the place to get it. For those not into coke, they also offer Cherry, Blue Raspberry, and Lemonade making a thirst quenching spot that is out of this world.
Space Mountain
The famous space-themed roller coaster, Space Mountain, can be found in all five of Disney's Magic Kingdom-style Parks around the world. Each of the five versions has a different queue and track system, however they all share that famous domed exterior, a space age exterior facade reaching into the sky.
1/2 Chicken and Rib Combo at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe
This dinner combo has been a fan favorite for years and is widely considered one of the best quick service meals in the Magic Kingdom. Grab a table in the main diing hall and you just may be entertained by audio-animatronic songster "Sonny Eclipse" who plays a few sets each day on his galactic piano.
Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover
Zipping high over the heads of Tomorrowland Guests, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover is a classic Disney attraction always on my must ride list. One of the Magic Kingdom's best attractions to relax on, this grand tour of Tomorrowland not only offers previews of each attraction, but some of the best views in the Park.
Thanks so much to our friends at the Disney Food Blog, Michael Kappel , Jeremy Thompson and Peter Lee for use of their images through Creative Commons.
Even though these are some of my favorite things in Tomorrowland, its far from all there is. What do you love most about Tomorrowland? Leave a comment below and share your Disney story.
