The Wilderness Lodge is one of the most popular resorts at Walt Disney World. From the towering totem poles to the erupting geyser, the Wilderness Lodge is one of our favorite places to stay. Here are our 5 reasons to stay at the Wilderness Lodge on your next Disney visit.
1. Atmosphere. Themed after the grand forest lodges of the American Northwest, the Wilderness Lodge is the perfect place to escape everyday life and enjoy the Disney magic. Modeled after Yellowstone's Old Faithful Inn, the atmosphere of the Wilderness Lodge is apparent from the moment you step into the lobby and take in the 82-foot fireplace and 55-foot authentic totem poles.
2. Dining. The dining options at the Wilderness Lodge are a huge draw for guests that stay there. Artist Point is one of Disney World's signature restaurants and one of the best dining experiences on Disney property. Roaring Fork, Wilderness Lodge's quick-service restaurant, also made our Top Five Disney World Quick-Service Location list. Whispering Canyon Cafe is Wilderness Lodge's mid-priced option for dining and rated one of Disney's "funnest" restaurants by the Disney Food Blog.
The Territory Lounge is the perfect place for a cocktail before dinner or a night cap with friends. If you want a drink to relax by the pool with the Trout Pass pool bar has you covered.
3. Pool. The Silver Creek Springs Pool is a favorite among many Disney guests. Relax in one of the two jacuzzi hot tubs or take a ride on the water slide. Be sure to look out for the Fire Rock Geyser that erupts every hour on the hour from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
4. Location. Situated on Bay Lake, the location of the Wilderness Lodge allows guests easy access to the Magic Kingdom and the other parks, as well as the Grand Floridian Resort, the Polynesian Resort, the Contemporary Resort, and Fort Wilderness. Take a ferry to Magic Kingdom or the Contemporary and hop on the monorail from there. And at the end of the night watch the Electrical Water Pageant from the boat dock.
5. The Rooms. The guest rooms at the Wilderness Lodge continue the lodge feel from the rest of the resort and are said to be some of the most welcoming rooms at Disney. In addition to the typical guest rooms with 1 king or 2 queens, you can request a room with a queen and a set of bunk beds.
The Villas at Wilderness Lodge are one of the most popular and sought-after Disney Vacation Properties. Guests of the Villas have access to all of the resort's amenities as well as the Hidden Springs Pool. Not a DVC member? Don't worry non-DVC members are allowed to book villas too.
