Bright Flavors Makes Sprinkles Cupcakes Stand Out

Like many Disney fans, I love a good cupcake, and I was especially excited to hear Disney Springs is the new home to a Sprinkles location. Sprinkles is considered by many to be the first name in cupcake bakeries, but you'll also find ice cream, cookies, and delicious combinations of the decedent treats.

While I'm told that the ice cream and cookies at Sprinkles are really top notch, I thought I would stick to the basics and go with a cupcake for my first visit. On the day I stopped in, 18 different flavors of cupcakes were available to choose from. I wasn't really in the mood to be overpowered with sweetness - and took that into consideration as I browsed the selections. The thing that jumped out at me amongst the sweet smelling goodies was subtle and unique - the Olive Oil Cupcake.

After getting my order, I headed outside to seating on the deck beneath the brightly colored umbrellas. It's a lovely seating area, between the Sprinkles building and the bright blue water of the springs. Tucked away just enough that you miss the hustle and bustle of crowds walking by. Plus, if you're sitting in the right spot you can watch Characters in Flight rising above the Springs Bottling Company building.

I'd never tried an olive oil cupcake before, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The delicate twist on chiffon cake was rich and moist, not over powering in its sweetness. This was all about flavor and texture, not simply sugar. Unlike many of the Sprinkles cupcakes, it was glazed instead of frosted. The glaze added the most beautiful natural flavors, you could see the bits of fresh orange peel and rosemary in it. It reminded me just a bit of an extremely decedent corn muffin turned into a dessert. The flavors were clean and unique.

Many cupcakes at Walt Disney World rely on copious amounts of super sweet frosting and fun themed design, however I found that Sprinkles offered something different - pure flavor. Sprinkles simple designs let the ingredients shine though, they aren't flashy to look at, but once you take a bite it all makes sense.

Sprinkles is absolutely worth a stop next time you're at Disney Springs, and don't forget - they have a 24 hour cupcake ATM! Be sure to sign up for the Sprinkles Perks program and you can earn some truly tasty rewards. Have you been to Sprinkles? What is you favorite cupcake? Leave a comment below and let me know.

I've never had a WDW cupcake that I enjoyed. I hate the huge gobs of frosting and usually scrape most of it off. This sounds much better.

I'm the same way with the massive amounts of frosting, and I hate it when the overall flavor is just sugar. Give Sprinkles a try, I think you'll be pleased.
