So - what do you get? Once your Countdown to fun - Walt Disney World Kit arrives you'll have a set of scavenger hunt instructions, a letter from Mickey Mouse, and a set of clues for you to provide to help your party find the boxes. It's up to you where the boxes will be hidden, but Disney offers some suggestions.
The kit comes with six boxes each with a different Walt Disney World theme and specially selected merchandise. Each of the six boxes is designed to prepare you for your vacation, and comes with a secret phone number and special code for your party to use. The boxes will include a Fun Family Activity, an introduction to
Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, the Magic Kingdom and an array of Vacation Fundamentals.
How The Countdown To Fun Boxes Work:
- Order the Countdown to Fun - Walt Disney World
from DisneyStore.com. It should arrive within 5-7 business days.
- Hide the first box from those you wish to surprise based on the instructions that come in the kit.
- Give your traveling party a clue about where to find the box, and send them on a hunt!
- Once your party finds the box, they should open it up to unveil a gift and a card that has a secret phone number and code on it. Once they have the code make the call to receive a special message from Mickey Mouse himself.
- Repeat above steps for the remaining boxes. The vacation reveal can happen on your time table - a day, a week, or even a month! It's all up to you.
There are a couple things worth noting about the Countdown to Fun packages. First purchase of this item is limited to 1 per Guest, so after you've gone this route once, you'll have to create your own reveal next time. Countdown to Fun boxes and/or their contents may vary from what is shown, based on availability. That means that Disney may change out the goodies inside for other things that they deem equal.

I hate to be negative nancy on Disney, but $100???? SERIOUSLY?? Be creative and make your own! Also, do it like a month or two in advance. I get weirded out by parents who tell their kids on the same day, no time to enjoy the counting down the days and packing.

I agree Jason - there are a lot of fun ways to do this at home without spending $100. But not all parents have the time or want to put in that effort on their own, and it's nice that Disney has this pre-made option available. It's not something that I will be purchasing, but its pretty cool none the yes.
