If you're looking to learn more about the mighty and majestic rhinoceros, stop by Disney's Animal Kingdom today, November 12, as the park celebrates Rhino Day.
Guests who visit the park that day will have a chance to discover a lot of fun facts about rhinos, in addition to being able to participate in special activities at Rafiki's Planet Watch. The activities include learning what rhinos eat, how they are cared for at the Animal Kingdom, and how the animal care team supports rhino conservation.
The Kilimanjaro Safari features white and black rhinos, including the calf that was born last year. The white rhinos can also be viewed by guests on the Wild Africa Trek as they relax at the boma landing.
The animal care team at the Animal Kingdom has made a direct contribution to the conservation of white rhinos in the wild. In 2006, two rhinos born at the park joined four other rhinos at the Ziwa Sanctuary in Uganda and are helping to reestablish a population that went extinct in the 1980s.
