Disney and Pixar's Onward premiered in theaters on March 6 to rave reviews from audiences. The fun new adventure looked to be on track for great things, but with a global health crisis closing cinemas the fun was cut short. It's OK if you didn't get to see it opening weekend though, because Disney has a plan for us to join the quest.
Digitally offering the film ahead of schedule Disney movie fans will be able to enjoy the journey from the comfort of their homes. Disney and Pixar's Onward is now available to buy digitally and on Movies Anywhere and will debut on Disney+ in the U.S. on April 3, 2020.
In Onward, teenage elf brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoot (voices of Tom Holland and Chris Pratt) get an unexpected opportunity to spend one more day with their late dad, embarking on an extraordinary quest aboard Barley's epic van Guinevere. Like any good quest, their journey is filled with magic spells, cryptic maps, impossible obstacles and unimaginable discoveries. But when the boys' fearless mom Laurel (voice of Julia Louis-Dreyfus) realizes her sons are missing, she teams up with a part-lion, part-bat, part-scorpion, former warrior"aka The Manticore (voice of Octavia Spencer)"and heads off to find them. Perilous curses aside, this one magical day could mean more than any of them ever dreamed.
I've heard nothing but good reviews of this fun new Disney and Pixar film, and I'm looking forward to watching it as soon as I can.
Stay safe, stay strong, stay home, but go on living your Disney dreams.
P.S. If you hadn't heard, Frozen II is already available on Disney+ as well!
