The open-air atmosphere and friendly staff make Geyser Point Bar & Grill at Disney's Wilderness Lodge sits on the shore of Bay Lake one of the best places to eat on a beautiful day. My daughter and I stopped by for our first visit at this poolside eatery that serves up stellar style.
The rustic feel of this establishment fits right in to the Pacific NorthWest vibe of Wilderness Lodge. Ample stone work and cedar construction offer a relaxing atmosphere that is casual yet refined.
The lounge pavilion has an open air perimeter, which makes it the perfect place when the weather is beautiful. Even on a hot day there's often a breeze coming off of Bay Lake that help cool things down. That being said, there's no need to worry if there isn't because the ceiling is lined with fans to keep the air moving. When the weather turns colder guests can enjoy the fire place, and feel like they are outdoors without braving the cold, because Geyser Point's pavilion is equipped with retractable walls to create a full enclosure.
I love the seating here because it offers a variety of style and comfort depending on the reason for your visit.
Just getting a quick drink? Pull up a seat at the bar. Settling in with friends or family for an afternoon break, grab one of the comfortable lounge sections. There just for lunch, a smattering of proper tables await. This versatile combination means that just about anyone can get comfy at Geyser Point Bar & Grill.
The bar menu is pretty extensive at Geyser Point, with a nice variety of specialty drinks, seasonal cocktails. beer, and wine. In addition the full bar means that you can order up just about any mixed you want.
I ordered the Hibiscus Cooler which was on the seasonal concoctions menu. It was a cocktail of 44N Potato Vodka, Cointreau, House Made Honey Hibiscus Syrup, fresh squeezed lemon juice, POM juice, and a splash of soda. It may be heavy on the ingredient list, but the taste was light and refreshing. I certainly could have stayed and enjoyed a few more.
The food menu at Geyser Point Bar & Grill offers up a take on rustic lounge food. I found the experience to be closer to a signature lounge than your typical pool bar. Perhaps that's because it has a quick service and a dedicated kitchen. Several good things on the menu, would eat here again. Popular menu items include Crispy Fried Oysters, Cheesy Barbecue Brisket, and a stellar Bison Cheeseburger.
I ordered the Smoked Turkey Sandwich with Lettuce, Tomato and Cranberry Mayonnaise. It was served on a great Multigrain Bread that was super fresh. A side dish of Multigrain Salad or Waffle Fries is listed on the menu, but you can also opt for the house-made chips. It may not sound too exciting, but this was really a fantastic sandwich that was stuffed with richly smoked turkey. The house-made chips were also pretty fantastic. I would have happily $18 for this combo.
My daughter has a pineapple allergy, and as that is frequently part of Disney fruit plates she special ordered her meal. After our waitress put in the request both the chef and restaurant manager came to check-in with her regarding her needs for a fruit plate that she could enjoy. As a big berry lover what she ended up with was a delight. We also noticed that the plate itself was marked as an allergy friendly meal.
We were there during love-bugs season, which were a little distracting, but that is going to be the case no matter where you eat in the open air at that time of year. Our waitress was super attentive and kept checking back with us to make sure that we weren't bothered by them, nor were they getting in our food.
The food was fresh and delicious, our drinks were ever filled, and the service was fast and friendly. Both my daughter and I really enjoyed our meal, and Geyser Point is high on our list of Magic Kingdom area restaurants to return to. Have you eaten at Geyser Point Bar & Grill? Served there a couple of times. Really nice location and meals. Especially nice because it was a first come, first serve seating location; meaning those with ambition and a plan got seated. The reservations system planning thing is out of control. I hope they don’t change a thing. They should open more locations like these at the resorts.
