Earlier this month Disney's animated hit film Frozen took top honors at the 41st Annual Annie Awards when it was named Best Animated Feature.
The Annie Awards honor excellence and individual achievement in 30 categories including best feature, production, design, character animation, effects animation, writing, music, storyboarding, editing, and voice acting.
The awards are often considered a predictor for which film will win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
Disney Legend Alice Davis was honored with the June Foray Award for her significant contributions to the art and industry of animation. Alice attended Chouinard Art Institute which is the training ground for Disney artists after receiving a scholarship from the Long Beach Art Association in 1947.
In all, Disney took home 16 awards at the Annie Awards including Outstanding Achievement, Directing in an Animated Feature Production (Frozen); Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production (Frozen), Outstanding Achievement, Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production (Josh Gad as Olaf in Frozen); Best Animated Short Subject (Get A Horse!); Best General Audience Animated TV/Broadcast Production for Preschool Children (Sofia the First); and Outstanding Achievement, Storyboarding in an Animated Feature Production (Monsters University, Pixar Studios).
