Enjoy Good Food and Campy Movie Clips at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney's Hollywood Studios is synonymous with the movies, so it only makes sense that it's also home to a drive-in movie themed restaurant.

Of course we're talking about the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant located on Commissary Way in the Studios. This table-service location is a fan favorite thanks to the food and the fun movie-themed atmosphere.

The restaurant is themed to look like a drive-in movie theater built on a Hollywood soundstage. You'll be seated in an automobooth (or you can choose a table if you'd like) under the twinkling nighttime skies. The restaurant is rather dark but it sets the mood (even if it does make it a little difficult to see your food).

The movie screen at the front of the "drive-in" will show a loop of old campy movie clips as you dine. Due to the short length of the film loop you might be lucky enough to see it more than once depending on the length of your meal.

Speaking of food, the Sci-Fi Dine-In has an interesting menu that features The Famous All American Picnic Burger, which is a fan favorite. This burger is a hamburger topped with a grilled hot dog, sauerkraut, onions, and all the typical burger fixins. It really is a sight to see and it's quite tasty too.

Other popular menu items include the Fried Dill Pickles on the appetizer menu, Spicy Buffalo Popcorn Chicken, the Salmon BLT, and The Reuben.

Grownup guests can wash down their food with some out-of-this world drinks including the Long Island Lunar Tea or the Orbiting Oreos, complete with glow-in-the-dark ice cubes of course.

The combination of good food and a fun and kitschy atmosphere seems to keep guests coming back to the Sci-Fi Dine-In. Plus, where else can you sit in a car inside an air conditioned sound stage and watch campy old movies while eating good food?

This is one of our must get advanced dining reservations when we're planning a trip to Disney. And since it is so popular we do recommend getting your ADR 180 days out.

We finally got a chance to try it on our last trip. We loved it! We will definitely go back again - I got talked out of trying the dill pickles, but I will insist on having them next time. The reuben was huge, and delicious.
