When you're craving something cold and sweet at the Magic Kingdom there are a few places you can visit for soft serve ice cream, Dole Whip, or even a Citrus Swirl. But sometimes you just really want a hand-scooped ice cream sundae to enjoy while watching the fireworks over Cinderella Castle. That's when you stop by the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street U.S.A.
The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor is located at the end of Main Street U.S.A., just across the street from Casey's Corner. So you could enjoy a hot dog and fries for dinner and then meander across the street for a sweet dessert.
You might actually smell the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor before you see it thanks to the lovely scent of freshly made waffle cones. It's also likely that you might get tied up in the ever present crowd that seems to gather outside the restaurant. It's a popular place so it's best to just get in line and wait.
The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor is home to a few somewhat famous ice cream treats including the Plaza Ice Cream Sundae, the All-American Sundae, and Mickey's Kitchen Sink Sundae.
Let's talk about Mickey's Kitchen Sink Sundae. This amazing treat debuted in the summer of 2014 and featured three scoops of ice cream with toppings and was served in souvenir plastic "kitchen sink" made from Mickey's pant. When it debuted it cost a whopping $22.99!
Today you can get Mickey's Kitchen Sink Sundae at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor for just $14.99 but it only features two scoops of ice cream (any flavor) topped with either hot fudge, peanut butter, caramel, or strawberry sauce, whipped cream, and two cherries. And you get to keep the Mickey Pants Sink.
Another famous menu item is the Plaza Ice Cream Sundae which is two scoops of vanilla ice cream topped with hot fudge, whipped cream, and a cherry all served in a waffle bowl. Or you could order the All-American Sundae which features vanilla and chocolate ice cream, hot fudge, peanut butter, whipped cream, and a cherry.
Other menu items include Mickey Mouse cones (with chocolate cookies for Mickey's ear), hand-scooped ice cream cones, and a homemade ice cream cookie sandwich made with two fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies and your choice of ice cream.
We love visit the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor every time we're at the Magic Kingdom. You just can't beat hand-scooped ice cream and the sundaes are out-of-this-world delicious. Seating is definitely at a premium, but there are a few tables around the corner. Otherwise you'll need to do a little walking and eating to find a spot to enjoy your sundae.
