When touring World Showcase there are so many delicious spots to stop and grab a quick bite to eat and some locations even boast a great spot to sit and relax.
The Lotus Blossom Cafe in the China pavilion has a menu that features basic Chinese food and it also offers guests a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the beauty of the China pavilion.
When considering the Lotus Blossom Cafe as a dining spot I often think "well, how hungry ARE you?" and then I consider the walking distance to a different pavilion. It's not that I don't like Chinese food (I love it) but when I'm at Epcot I tend to avoid eating things I can get at home. Like sweet-and-sour chicken and egg rolls.
However, on a recent steamy August afternoon at Epcot I found myself standing at the ordering queue in the Lotus Blossom Cafe.
There were two things I needed on this particular summer day: shade and a cool beverage. I found both in the China pavilion.
As the kids scurried about the pavilion trying to stop Dr. Doofenshmirtz's latest evil plan in Agent P's World Showcase Adventure I ordered a Peach Oolong Iced Tea and found a spot in the indoor/outdoor seating area of the cafe. I have to say it was a nearly perfect 30 minute break.
If you're looking for an air conditioned seating area you won't find it at the Lotus Blossom Cafe but the open-air covered seating area is a lovely spot. You can enjoy the sounds of the China Pavilion and gaze out at the Temple of Heaven, the centerpiece of the pavilion.
But let's talk about the food for a bit. The menu at the Lotus Blossom Cafe includes orange chicken, shrimp fried rice with egg roll, vegetable curry over rice, egg rolls, pot stickers, and sweet-and-sour chicken for the kids.
Beverages include the Peach Oolong Iced Tea, smoothies, plum wine, Chinese beer, bottled water and soft drinks. Desserts current include caramel ginger ice cream and lychee ice cream.
If you have a hankering for egg rolls, steamed pot stickers, or your kids won't eat anything but sweet-and-sour chicken then the Lotus Blossom Cafe is a great spot to stop. I know I'll be stopping again soon to get that Peach Oolong tea. It was sweet, but not too sweet, and had a lovely peach flavor that wasn't overpowering.
The Lotus Blossom Cafe is definitely one of my go-to spots to find some shade, enjoy a cold drink, and people watch.
