Disney's Animal Kingdom is home to some great dining spots whether you're looking for table service or quick service. We love exploring the park for new things to eat and the quirky theming you'll find at many of the locations. From the animal-eats-animal "circle of life" theme at Flame Tree Barbecue (look at the signs closely the next time you visit) to the outdoor market theme at Tusker House, it's worth it to look around while you dine at the Animal Kingdom.
Which bring us to today's quick service dining spot: Restaurantosaurus located in Dinoland U.S.A. This kitchy spot is sometimes written off as just another burger joint, but we think it is one of the best quick service spots at the park.
The story behind Restaurantosaurus is that it started out as the cafeteria for the college students who were participating in the dino dig. And, since the students were strapped for cash, they decided to open the Restaurant and the 'osaurus' was added as a joke at a later date. If you look closely at the decor inside you'll see 'osaurus' added to other names too.
Restaurantosaurus is rather large once you get inside with several seating areas, including a really cool booth inside the old Airstream trailer "parked" outside. Each of the rooms has its own theme, in The Hip Joint and a student area complete with a half-court gym.
When you're dining at Restaurantosaurus take some time to visit the other seating areas to check out the whimsical decor including board games, a never-ending dart game, and more.
But enough about what it looks like. Let's talk about what you can eat! The menu at Restaurantosaurus includes an Angus Bacon Cheeseburger (a personal favorite), the unique Macaroni and Cheese Hot Dog, a Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Chicken Nuggets, and even a vegetarian Black Bean Burger.
Kids can choose from two "Mickey Check" meals (a Turkey Wrap or an Uncrustable sandwich) or a Cheeseburger or Corn Dog Nuggets. Desserts are the Animal Kingdom "standard" dessert in a glass and here you'll usually find chocolate mousse or cheesecake. They're OK but I'd save the calories and get something else later.
As is the case with most quick service spots, you won't leave Restaurantosaurus hungry!
This is one of those spots that we always visit when we're at the Animal Kingdom. The food is good and you just have to love a place with such a great backstory.
