When you're visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios and you're looking for a spot to sit, relax, escape the brutal summer sun, and find a fast meal, we think the ABC Commissary is a good place to stop. It might not be the spot that people always rave about but it does have a few hidden gems on the menu that are worth checking out.
The ABC Commissary is themed after a cafeteria on a studio lot, namely the ABC Studios. The overall theme here is heavy on the Art Deco decor with some props and memorabilia from current ABC television shows thrown in to the mix.
The number of tables and chairs in the ABC Commissary is incredible and you'd be hard pressed to not find a seat here. In addition to the television props you'll also find a lot of plants and palm trees and some posters for current tv shows.
But enough about the decor, let's move on to what you'll find on the menu. Even though this is a quick service location the menu is more than burgers and nuggets, which is a good thing since those choices get real old, real fast.
The ordering queue here is similar to most quick service spots and you'll find several ordering stations. The menus are posted overhead so you can figure out what you want to order before stepping up to the ordering station.
The menu at ABC Commissary has some unique to Disney quick service items including an Asian Chicken Salad, an Asian salad with Salmon, Couscous Quinoa and Arugula Salad with Salmon, and even a Seafood Platter. You'll even find a Roasted Salmon option that is served with steamed broccoli, cous cous, and quinoa.
And if you're looking for something a bit more than just a standard cheeseburger we'd have to recommend the 1/3 lb Angus Cheeseburger with Horseradish Sauce and Fried Shrimp! It's like a mini surf and turf but with a bun! This burger is a fan favorite and it's definitely something that would bring us back to the ABC Commissary.
This is also a good place to find the seasonal cupcakes that are quite popular throughout the year. The dessert menu at the ABC Commissary also includes chocolate mousse and a sugar-free strawberry parfait but it's all about the cupcakes for us.
The kid's menu here includes two "healthier" options including a turkey sandwich or the Mickey Power Pack. Or the kids can order the standard chicken nuggets or cheeseburger.
And if you're looking to sit outside and enjoy your quino and cous cous salad, there are some great "people watching" tables just outside the ABC Commissary. The tables are shaded thanks to umbrellas and you can enjoy your meal (or a snack from the nearby Writer's Stop) as you watch the world walk by.
The ABC Commissary tends to be a bit off-the-grid for most guests so this makes it a good spot to stop and trying something new.
Do you have a favorite dish from the ABC Commissary? We'd love to hear about it in the comments!
Many thanks to the Disney Food Blog for use of their photos.

Great place to grab lunch. The cupcakes are always good. I miss the Cuban sandwich, it was the best item on their menu.

I love the asian salad with salmon. I try to have one everytime I am at the Studios.

If you want to skip grease for a meal and get something healthier, the Asian salads are good. We usually get them once each trip.
