When you're visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios it's always refreshing to find an area that feels like Hollywood, especially since the Studio Backlot Tour is gone forever. And when you can get a decent quick service meal at the same time? Well, you're looking at a win-win situation.
One of the best quick service locations at Disney's Hollywood Studios is the Backlot Express. The restaurant's motto is "A Warehouse of Good Eating" and they mean it. You feel as though you're in a prop warehouse when you visit the Backlot Express and you'll find some good eating too.
The quick service restaurant is decorated with props and other movie memorabilia and it's located near Star Tours and the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular. While the seating area is quite large, this location tends to get busy during peak park times. It's also a good spot to find some shade while you eat.
Some of the props include old cars, stunt gear, machinery, tools, and more. The premise of the restaurant is that you're dining in the 'backlot' of Disney's Hollywood Studios where all the props and costumes are stored and fixed.
At some point during your quick service meal you'll want to take a few minutes to wander around and look at what the Disney Imagineers have done with the place. There are several "rooms" full of props and the seating area is separated with chain link fence partitions.
A fun area is the "paint shop" where guests will find paint cans scattered about and paint splattered around the cabinets. There's also an area for the stunt men and women, complete with a first aid cabinet.
The menu at the Backlot Express features standard counter service eats including Angus burgers, hot dogs, buffalo chicken nuggets, salads, and a grilled vegetable sandwich.
The kids' menu features chicken nuggets or a grilled vegetable sandwich, which is a unique item when it comes to kids menus at Walt Disney World. There are also two "Mickey Check" meals: a PB&J and a Power Pack with yogurt, apple wedges, carrot sticks, and Goldfish crackers.
Desserts often vary but can include chocolate mousse and strawberry parfait. The Backlot Express menu also features select beers, wines, soft drinks, and bottled water.
We always love a dining location that offers more than just good food and the Backlot Express fit that bill. The restaurant is almost an attraction in itself thanks to the movie props and it's a good reminder that at one point in time the Disney's Hollywood Studios really was about all that goes into making movies.
Tell us, is the Backlot Express one of your go-to quick service locations at Disney's Hollywood Studios? Leave us a comment, we'd love to hear from you!

We tried to eat there on our last trip and they were closed. :-( I wonder if this area will be soon be on the remodeling list. It would make sense to re-theme it with all the other changes coming.
