Join a Cast of Characters for Lunch and Dinner and Hollywood & Vine at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

If you have kids (or grandkids) who are in the Disney Junior phase and happen to love Sofia the First or Jake and the Never Land Pirates, chances are you've thought about visiting Hollywood & Vine at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The Disney Junior Play 'n Dine character meal is a great place for the kids to meet their television favorites, and it's a good place for the grown-ups to nosh on some delicious eats.

For Disney Junior fans and their grown-ups, breakfast and lunch are the two meals where you'll find characters including Jake from Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Handy Manny, and new additions Doc McStuffins and Sofia the First.

In years past you could also find JoJo from JoJo's Circus, Special Agent Oso, and June and Leo from Little Einsteins. The characters seem to change as new shows are brought on to the Disney Junior schedule.

Hollywood & Vine
is a buffet-style restaurant themed as the "cafeteria to the stars" and it has one of the best selections of food you'll find on a buffet on property. The decor inside the restaurant is Art Deco and it has a great vintage feel.

Breakfast features the regular breakfast fare including pastries, eggs, frittatas, breakfast meats, cereals, Mickey waffles, and basics such as oatmeal and cereal. It's standard breakfast fare and nothing really stands out. But really, it's all about the characters.

Lunch offers food choices that can be considered a bit more "adventurous" but there will still be something for everyone. And if the kids are intimidated by the grown-up choices they can always visit the kid's buffet where they'll find chicken nuggets and mac and cheese! And don't forget to check out the chocolate fountain for dessert.

One of the highlights at Hollywood & Vine (aside from the food) is the entertainment value for the kids. As is typical at character meals, the characters traverse the dining room stopping at each table for pictures and autographs.

And then every 30 minutes or so, the cast members and the characters present a high-energy show for the kids. This show is great for a couple of reasons. First, the kids can dance with their favorite characters. And second, mom and dad (and grandma and grandpa) can enjoy their breakfast or lunch!

If you happen to visit Hollywood & Vine at dinner, you'll still find the buffet but there won't be any singing or dancing as the characters only appear at breakfast and lunch. The menu for dinner might include items such as herb-crusted salmon, pasta, carved meats, and salads, in addition to kid-friendly fare like chicken nuggets and mac and cheese.

As with other table service locations, it is recommended that you make reservations 180 days in advance for Hollywood & Vine. If you are on the Disney Dining Plan a meal here will cost one table service credit.

Our friends at the Disney Food Blog have a great review of lunch at Hollywood & Vine and they say it's one of the better character meal buffets on property as far as food is concerned!

We ate here last November, but not for a character meal. The food was top notch. Too, bad it started to rain-we had Fantasmic dinner pkg, but opted out of the show, so we wouldn't be soaked.
