What's the latest with the Magic Kingdom Fantasyland expansion?
It seems we've all heard a lot about Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid (now open at Disneyland's California Adventure), Beast's Castle and the Be Our Guest Restaurant, and Maurice's Cottage and Enchanted Tales with Belle.
But what we haven't heard about is the portion of the new Fantasyland that was once Mickey's Toontown Fair.
So, the Disney Parks Blog unveiled last week the plans for the new Storybook Circus area. Themed after "Dumbo," the popular Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride will get a twin, becoming the "dueling Dumbo" we've heard about, doubling capacity for the ride. So, no Snow White mine train as was once rumored.
And, what once was Goofy's Barnstormer will get a new look and theme, but won't stray too far from the original. Now, it will be piloted by The Great Goofini.
There will also be a children's water play area themed around Casey Jr., the locomotive from the 'Dumbo" movie.
As for the large tents to the left of the artist rendering, it's still a mystery. There's also still no set date for opening of the updated Fantasyland -- it will open in phases starting in late 2012.

The Snow White Mine Train coaster art shows that it will be located behind Cinderella's castle, not too far from the existing Snow White's Scary Adventures ride. Here's a link to another site that shows the photos:

Hey Phillip! Funny seeing you on here! That's so exciting! When I was there in April I got to see where the new circus theme was, and it looks great! We'll be back in Sept (if not sooner), so I hope to see how the progress is coming.
