Magnificent Margaritas - Upcountry In Disney's Animal Kingdom

Looking for a spot to wet your whistle before you start your Asian adventure? Head on over to the Upcountry for some magnificent margaritas. I'd hesitate to put Upcountry in the category of bar or lounge, but it's one little kiosk serving up some really big flavors.

There's a limited menu here, but as mentioned on the Disney Food Blog, Upcountry is Animal Kingdom's answer to Epcot's Mexican Margarita stand. Here Sauza Gold Tequila spins in industrial smoothie machines with fruit purees to create three lush and indulgent grown-up beverages. Guests can chose from one of three fabulous flavors of frozen delight - the Kali River Mango Margarita, the Maharaja Lime Margarita, or the Bali Hai Strawberry Margarita. All three grab and go treats will quench a thirst in a make your day.

However if all that booze doesn't sound smart in the heat of the day, Upcountry is still a worthy spot to stop for something cold. The non-alcoholic Shangri-La Berry Freeze is a sweet strawberry sensation.

If you can't quite make up your mind on which one of these delicious concoctions you want to try, no worries! Upcountry has just the thing you've been craving - The Triple Yeti Blast. Made by carefully layering all three delicious margarita flavors into one glass, this colorful, refreshing treat of Mango, Lime, and Strawberry margaritas is the best of all worlds.

For souvenir hunters Upcountry offers its fruity cocktails in on of two different collectible tumblers. The margaritas come in a rich dark wooden-looking tumbler that's rich in detail. Designed to honor the carvings of tribal masks it's a sight to be seen. However the real winner here is the souvenir mug for the Shangri-La Berry Freeze. It also has "carved" details in what's meant to look like wood, but the piece de resistance is the Ocarina in the handle. Yes my friends - this tumbler does double duty as a musical instrument.

Upcountry is located on the rambling walk from Asia to Africa just outside of Flights of Wonder. There's a sprinkling of tall tables on the side of the shack, but to find a seat you'll have to wander across the path where Disney Food Blog says you'll find some sheltered tables and chairs to rest and maybe play your ocarina while sipping a frozen fruity delight. Thanks so much to our friends over at Disney Food Blog for exclusive use of their images.

Will you be stopping at Upcountry on your next Animal Kingdom trek? If so, will you pick one flavor or go for the Triple Yeti Blast? Let a comment and let us know!

Thank you so much for this review. I was going over plans for our trip in 39 days and saw Upcountry on the map and thought it was perfectly placed for a mid day refreshment stop for the adults in our party, but I was wondering what type of margaritas they serve. Issue now resolved and can't wait to try the Triple Yeti Blast.
