Walt Disney World Monorail Crawls are fun any time of year; but during the holidays I like to put a festive spin on the fun by giving my sips and snacks a wintery theme where possible. There are so many ways to enjoy the Magic Kingdom Area Resorts, so get creative with your crawls, taste your way around with cocktails, cupcakes, progressive dinners, appetizers, or by bar. It all gives you a great way to experience this part of Walt Disney World while trailing along the highway in the sky.
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
A tropical holiday may not be everyone's cup of tea, but don't forget to stop by Disney's Polynesian Village Resort on your monorail crawl. The lobby is decked out in swags of greenery with tropical flowers, sea life, and pineapple. Of course you know we couldn't stop at the Poly without the essential Disney treat of Dole Whip from Pineapple Lanai. Since there are pineapples on the Christmas Tree we totally count this as a seasonal snack!
OK, OK, maybe that's not quite Christmasy enough for you. Head down to Boutiki and pick up some sweet treats from the islands featuring coconut and macadamia. There are also great Honolulu Cookie Gift Sets to be had. For a limited time these special sweets are sporting sleek holiday packaging
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
The Gingerbread Shop at Disney's Grand Floridian is legendary because it's built out of the spiced cookies themselves! This elaborate 10-foot-wide, 15-foot-long and 14-foot-tall structure is covered with more than 10,000 pieces of gingerbread and is the perfect place to pick up holiday sweets and treats. Want to know what's being sold here? Our friends over at the Disney Food Blog have the whole menu.
Next head up to the all new Enchanted Rose Lounge for a holiday cocktail. The Grand Cosmopolitan is a great choice for a martini. This festive drink is always on the menu at Enchanted Rose and is made with Grey Goose Vodka, Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge, and Juices of Cranberry and Lime. Cheese boards are the perfect snack to go with the Grand Cosmopolitan, and Enchanted Rose has one on the menu so you can keep the nibbles coming while you make that monorail crawl.
Disney's Contemporary Resort & Spa
It's the 10th anniversary of the Contemporary's Cinderella Castle Gingerbread display. Rendered in the style of the iconic It's a Small World attraction, this pop-up shop is located on the Grand Canyon Concourse. The 18-foot-tall display is crafted from more than 5,000 gingerbread shingles, 47 pounds of rolled fondant, 38 pounds of modeling chocolate and much more!
The Mouseketeer Gingerbread Men are an adorable and tasty treat, plus they come in two different flavors.
Apparently I was on a martini kick when I did my holiday monorail crawl, because I ordered up an old favorite off of the Outer Rim Lounge menu. The delicious Chocolate Martinis are made with Godiva Chocolate Liquer, Stoli Vanil Vodka, Bols White Creme de Cacao, and Frangelico this martini goes down smooth, but still packs a punch.
*Bonus Stop* If you're a DVC Member, be sure to add in Top of the World Lounge to your monorail crawl. This exclusive location is one of my favorite places to catch a showing of Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks on select nights throughout the holiday season.
Thanks so much to our friends over at the Disney Food Blog for sharing their images with us exclusively. If you're heading down to Walt Disney World for the winter holidays, be sure to add a Holiday Monorail Crawl to your itinerary.
